@nikred2803 жыл бұрын
wo tongyi..agree
@evertspies33453 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely one of the better sites. Some of the others tend to go into gammer and the tones very early. I still struggle to hear the language but can read and understand the pinyin. By listening to the native people talking I hope to pick up the sounds.

It is a good channel .Very practical and down to earth .

Agreed. I am getting value here other channels are not giving me. I recently signed up again to support Mandarin Corner via Patreon just to return in a small way the value I am receiving.

Really good video. I appreciate the disclaimer at the start that some scenes might be hard for some people. Very realistic video that gives us an unfiltered view of a day in everyday life in China.

yeah people think chicken just appears in burgers without any gore
@argonwheatbelly6373 жыл бұрын
@@electronicjo1 : Used to raise them, show them, eat them. Still eat them. Chickens are great, but people are so far removed from even mucking a stable, that they don't know what it means to care for a horse, let alone ride one. Hunting and fishing taught me much. My daughter was afraid of chickens, but got over it really quickly, when she was told that she needed to gather the eggs if she wanted breakfast. And she was not yet six. She and her brother know where their food comes from, and they still eat, but understand the difference between a pet and livestock.

I applaud Eileen and company. In addition to language skills, the unfiltered view of life in China is AMAZING!

Love these videos where you interact with people in daily life like we're really living there, so many learning mandarin videos are just so contrived. The end bit where you give the chicken to the market stall lady is heart warming.

I want also to say about lady, which was helping their family at the poultry store. I admire how people are not scared to do dirty work. We all have chances in this life to become someone. Maybe she gonna use her chance. Maybe not. But those who are working truly hard, - they will be rewarded in their life eventually.

This has become my all-time favorite Mandarin channel! I love how we get to see and hear how real life is like in China instead of reading textbook Mandarin. I learn so many new phrases and common Chinese manners from these videos, which is very helpful. I also appreciate the subtitles, as I am only a beginner. Watching this channel has definitely helped me become more fluent in Mandarin!

This is the best of all the Mandarin Corner videos, and therefore also the best Chinese video ever!
@dakotaxu47924 жыл бұрын
A really exciting start for me, my very first day today studying a completely new subject at Mandarin Corner! This is only my second video course here but already after going over it once I realized that at least 95% of the words in this video are completely new to me, and I couldn’t understand anything, so it’s almost like starting a new adventure! I live in Chinatown in Flushing, New York and every time I go to the supermarket I have no idea what they are saying, because nobody speaks any English, which is also very exciting since in a way it’s a completely different world.. I think this particular video will let me explore the world of supermarkets and get to know as much as possible so that the next time I go shopping there, I will feel at home.

This is the best content, when its a real life situation , keeps me wathing all the video, but when its one on one interview seems something lacking, this is just perfect. Pluss maybe for people who are not intermediate , some videos would be benefical.

Let's list what you've done: (1) real-life situations, (2) a 2-person Q&A exchange, (3) all material meticulously annotated in Pinyin, Hanzi, and Yingwen. You can hardly make this better; it is a perfect teaching material. Thank you so much for all your effort; you are our heroine! (And the dinner was good, we trust.)

Eileen, thank you for your efforts on remaking even an old video for us to enjoy. I grew up in China but I moved to NA and it has been quite a few years since I've been back. This simple video reminded me of all the little things I missed about how easy-going some aspects of life in China can be. Also good on ya for giving the food back to the store owners which you even used your own money to buy! 赞!

A FANTASTIC Mandarin language & culture video👏👏 I'm learning so much practical phrases & uses for shopping & living Chinese life! In Canada, I've studied Mandarin through weekend lessons & university level but I still do not have the communication skills to order food in restaurants, shop nor live or work in China. THANK YOU very much for practical life videos in market, village walk etc. You're a very clear thorough & generous teacher! The market vendors are so nice to let you try food & clothes. Thank you for using your money to give us practical examples of how to buy market food. Your generosity in giving back to vendors is so encouraging to them. Thank you for making the market a kinder place & connecting our cultural appreciation through language!❤ I hope to look for your video on ordering in noodle lunch restaurant and dinner restaurants soon

Ok so I have just begun studying this video and it’s very very comprehensive, and also very entertaining. Before this video I never knew the Mandarin names for any fruit or vegetables in a Chinese supermarket, so this is a HUGE opportunity for me to do a crash course in a very short time!!! The thing I most like about Mandarin Corner is that one can jump from any one course to a completely different course because there are so many different subjects that are covered. Previous to this I successfully completed studying ‘American Talks About His Life In China’, and because this one is lower Intermediate it already seems much easier, but also very necessary for me, before I go back to another upper intermediate course here on Mandarin Corner. I’m not a true intermediate student, which is why these different courses here will eventually help me get there.

God bless you Eileen and your camera man too. I am trying to teach myself better listening skills. I am a beginner so first I am trying to hear the pinyin syllables, then the tones, and then the true Chinese. You are huge to me now. Being able to follow your vocalization with the pinyin syllables is of immeasurable value to me. Including the pinyin and that whoever is synchronizing it so beautifully with the vocal track is amazing. God bless everyone involved.

This is my third time through the video and I haven't made it even halfway through. haha. It's such a goldmine! This third time is about making flashcards and adding to the Anki database. THANK YOU so much for your hard work and excellent production quality!

P.S. Eileen speaks such PERFECT and clear Mandarin that it's hard to decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I live in the Fenway of Boston (USA) with a HUGE population of Mandarin-speaking college students from all over Mainland China and Taiwan. Further, my girlfriend speaks Cantonese with her family and Mandarin with her Chinese friends. Exactly NONE of them speak Mandarin as clearly and precisely as Eileen, so I walk away from listening to them feeling that I've learned nothing. I know it takes practice with different dialects and accents, but it is something to keep in mind.
