Time travel back 120 years to Paris c.1900 AI colorized and upscaled to 4K 60fps clarity with added sound.
A group of fashionable men and women go for a Sunday stroll in the Bois de Boulogne.
It was a popular meeting place and promenade route for fashionable Parisians of all classes.
The film starts at the Porte Dauphine entrance to Bois de Boulogne. Look out for an early French automobile scooting past in the first few frames, possibly a De Dion Bouton.
Though horse drawn carriages were still the main transport, automobiles were quickly making their noisy presence felt by the start of the 20th century.
The exact date is unclear but the ladies walking skirts are still long and require hoisting, so this film was probably made before 1905.
The Bois de Boulogne ( Boulogne woodland) is a large public park ceded to the citizens of Paris by Emperor Napoleon III in 1852.
It was once an ancient oak forest. There are several lakes, botanical and floral gardens, a zoo and an amusement park. It was popular for equestrian events and open air theater in the 1900's. To the east of the Bois de Boulogne is the Parc de Bagatelle. To the north, the Jardin d'Acclimatation and to the South-east, the greenhouses of Le Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil.
The film was AI restored by GlamourDaze
AI Restoration:
1. Cleaned noise artifacts
2. Increased frame interpolation from 15 fps to 60 fps using Rife app.
3. Increased resolution from 240p to 4000p.
4. Applied color using Deoldify ( notebook available on Google Colab)
5. Created ambient soundtrack.

Not a world we lost, but a world we gave up on. We deemed it unneccessary, until we realised, that it's too late to return. Personally, I do believe that we are at a point as humans, where our decay is inevitable. It's all downhill from here. Better enjoy the ride while you still can.

One thing that often amazes me about the old film clips is that even though the population was significantly smaller and there were no cars (ie quick, easy transportation) the streets, parks and cafes are always thronging. Life seemed to be more social outside the home back then.

They were more there to show off their wealth as those ladies were very wealthy from the high power men who payed their bills and took care of them. In fact the average woman would go to the park to watch the courtesans on their expensive horses, in their luxurious fashions riding in their priceless carriages, dripping in jewels. From what I read it was a very classy and respectful place, so sad to hear it has turned into an actual place of prostitution.

Indeed, mostly during night time with a lot of travestits, trans-gender... Prostitution existed already in that remote time, but only in some areas, and women looked more classy than today. Victor Hugo, even in his old age, used to go to Bois de Boulogne, cause he has always been obssesed by female sex, like many romantics. But this is never taught at school...

Those, we see in period films, are actresses wearing garments that they are not used to. Kudos to the movie industry for their accuracy where period fashion is concerned, but the women, wearing those costumes, cannot conceal the fact that they are not accustomed to wearing them. It's like wearing heels when you usually wear flops.

Those young women today would be jogging or power walking with a heartbeat monitor and head phones, listening to music or podcasts, and constantly checking their phones for text messages. Those stifling corsets and massive hats and carting around a thousand yards of fabric may seem stylish and picturesque today, but it must have been exhausting to take a simple walk in the park.
