What a breath-taking place! I wish I could plant 50 dahlias like this and not stake them... Mine are packed tight, and even with mounding, staking, and corralling, they topple and snap in our strong winds, which come from every direction. This location must be well sheltered! I look forward to the day that more plant varieties available in the US and UK become available in New Zealand!

Aaawww, that brought back so many happy memories of past visit! When I saw the road you were on driving to Swan's I said "is she gonna go on the fairy???? YES! She took the fairy!!!!"🤗🤣🤣🤣 It's so sad that they had to cancel the festival this year, but I am so glad that they at least are still opening up the beautiful gardens for tours. Saw quite a few old friends that I'd like to reacquaint myself with - & quite a few that I might just have to get to know!!!! Oh good grief, Claudia!!! Look what your doing to me?! Your giving me the Dahlia bug allover again!!!!😅 My favorite part of their festivals was always going down into the cellars & seeing all the floral arrangements! There were so many & it was just spectacular!!! The gift shop I have been seeing in their newsletters & it wasn't there when we used to go (but looks like they have some really neat Dahlia themed things), & that's probably because that's where the original owners (the parents - the Gitts - lived). I was wondering what building that was in, if they had built one or what.🤷♀️ So thanks for showing us!!!😁👍

Aww!! I’m so happy you enjoyed this video!! I was thinking of you when we were there. I just thought, wow this was hers and her families world, I know she’s going to love seeing all these Dahlias again. I’m sad about the festival too, but super happy they’re open to the public. 🥰 If they end up doing the festival next year and you happen to go, you have to tell me so we can go on the same day. 😍 You’re the expert, I’m sure you you’d teach me something that I didn’t know before. 🤗

@@InTheGardenWithClaudia another disappointment of them not having the festival also is that they usually had experts on hand giving short classes or demonstrations on how to grow Dahlias (because so many visitors come & then also want to become involved in growing).
