A walk along the Wales Coast Path from Porthcawl Pier to the old pub, The Prince Of Wales in Kenfig.
▸The Walk Map: bit.ly/3hTJmEq
▸The Starting Point: Porthcawl Pier
🧭 51° 28' 26”N 3° 42' 6”W
🧭 51.473939, -3.701684
▸What 3 Words: landscape.imprinted.dream
The relatively flat walk follows the coast from Porthcawl, passing Rest Bay and Sker Point. The route then takes you across the dunes of Kenfig Nature Reserve before the short final stretch to the Prince Of Wales Pub in Kenfig.
The 5-mile walk takes about 90 minutes and is mostly flat.
There isn’t any public transport to get back to Porthcawl so you either have to walk or if you are lucky, get someone to pick you up.

Hi Marcus, we walk to Rest Bay most weekends from Porthcawl, and quite often see you sat with your friends having a coffee on the sea front!! I enjoyed your video of this walk, and one day, I will have a go at this route. Thanks for sharing 😀👍

We miss the 63b, it was handy for us stopped really close to our house in North Cornelly , now no bus going the Kenfig route at all 🤷‍♂️

It's disgusting. I came up with a cost-free solution to this problem a couple of years ago and put it to several members of BCBC and also to our local MP Jamie Wallace with no takers. My solution is easy. The 63 runs 3 times an hour in peak times. I would just 'magically' turn one of these into a 63b ! 90% of the stops are the same. Job done !

First cymru pulled the bus service when BCBC withdrew funding for that route(63B) a few years back, another company did try on that route but it wasn't profitable so as far as I know theres no service running that route anymore. Unfortunately with private company's its all about the money and not the service provided, a story which is seen right across the UK whether travelling by Bus or by Rail.

Hello both! That looks like a really enjoyable walk. I only wish I was fit enough to try it. If I parked in the disabled spots in Rest Bay I might just manage a walk to Sker Point. But maybe I'll need someone to carry me back? Ha! Thanks M&M - have a super New Year - and keep on kissing! Hwyl.

Marcus, thank you for sharing yet another lovely walk with us. You were lucky to have such a splendid day to do it on. I perfectly understand Mel's reluctance to go out walking with you when you are making a video. I think she understandably gets bored with all that making a video entails. All the backtracking, all time it takes to reframe and set up the shots, all the retakes, and of course, it goes without saying, having to fend off all your groupies that you encounter along the way. That aside, I do hope that you and Mel do get to enjoy some lovely private walks together when the weather is better and you aren't making a video. Incidentally, I am surprised that you didn't manage to creep down to the beach on Christmas day to video the "nutters" taking a bracing dip in the sea. According to the newspapers, there were some cracking sights to be seen.

We do go on some walks without a camera. We were down the beach on Christmas day but did a live Facebook video instead of filming.

@@marcuswalks That's good to know. I know that Mel can come across as a bit grumpy, or to put it better, less than enthusiastic at times but I feel that is because she is probably a bit camera shy - not everyone is an extrovert - thank goodness. Additionally, she doesn't like the cold - who does? I don't do Facebook so I missed your live video stream from the beach, but it is great that you got out and covered it. Will you be taking a Christmas dip next year? Perhaps Mel could record from the safety of the beach?

Great video Marcus, I (and my dog) have walked from the Kenfig N.R. car park to Rest Bay (and back) many dozens of times. It's a great walk, and very bracing in windy conditions. I am surprised you didn't meet more walkers. The beach can look very different at Sker at different times of the year, and often very popular with surfers of course. You are correct the 63b service has now gone, what a shame. Keep up the good work, and good to see Mel on this channel.

Enjoyed that Marcus ,I think that was the pub that around 20+ years ago,the locals said they could hear people talking in the room, when the were hardly any people in there ,and I think the bbc did a programme about it,it turned out the walls had a high conte y of iron oxide in them, and it was actually g like a recording tape, the sounds they managed to record were from many years ago… I’m sure it was the same pub… If I come across any info on Google I will let know… By the way what is you caMera and mic setup you use

Hi, I know that story about the pub. I think it was a bit of a hoax to get some attention. I'm sure I met someone last year who was involved. I use a GoPro10 and a Rode Wireless Go Microphone for the walks.
