Thank you all for watching! I hope you all found this one interesting. If I sound a little different that's because I'm in my room at my University home, also forgive me if there is any background noise, I have 5 other roommates so it's a full house!

Another ship that went down in the Baltic, Wilhelm Gustloff. Submarine training classrooms, sunk in Jan '45 by a Russian sub.

@@paulwoodman5131 Yes, a disaster that others have covered at length. I probably won't cover it just because others have done it better than I could.

@@ImportantNavalHistory Yes, that disaster was outside the scope of This report of kreigsMarine ships that survived the war. I just mentioned it because it also went down in the Baltic and it had many naval personnel aboard. Interesting about the Graf Zeppelin, Germany still doesn't have a carrier.

I really enjoy this series. It opened my eyes to ships that in my mind were sadly missed in my history lessons. Truly fascinating episodes.

I’m glad I started this series. It’s given me the opportunity to look at some odd ships. Next month is gonna be an awesome episode!

Thanks for another great episode! There aren't many channels discussing warships let alone the more obscure vessels you consistently present. Great job!

Leipzig had such a hard life, no one wanted her at the end. 🙄 Another great effort, mate!! Hope Uni is going well too! 🤓

Superb! Best sound ever. New mic or just a room change perhaps. It's very clear. Zeppelin was a sad ship. Leipzig very interesting. 49 dead sailors due to a mid handled signal. Tragic. Looked good in its dazzle paint! Nice one, mate 👍🏽👏🏽

Thank you! I guess the microphone does better in this room. It’s got a lower ceiling than my room at home. So I guess that makes sense. Leipzig’s fate was really odd to me.

@@ImportantNavalHistory Acoustic makes sense. As for Leipzig, after having been torpedoed by HMS Salmon (which also got Nurnberg) and skewered by Prinz Eugen, it was a bit of a dodgy proposition to take into service - imgine going to a used car lot and being offered a Caddy that you know has been in two serious shunts: would you buy it, even for cheap? I didn't think so! But using it as floating accommodation for the German sailors who had the "happy" task of picking up all the mines that they had sown (and Leipzig was used for laying them, don't forget) makes perfect sense. And scuttling with charges, rather than opening the sea cocks? I expect there was plenty of ordinance lying about, and it's fun to see something go bang, any day! I left you a message on one of your shorts - a picture of a German ship in the Library of Congress - hope you saw it. Have an awesome week =]

Graf Zeppelin was already obsolete when she was launched. She had been easy prey for an Illustrious, let alone Essex class carrier if she had been deployed towards the end of the war. The Kriegsmarine had so few larger ships but nevertheless managed to make two of them collide. What a glorious feat! :D Pronunciation of Stettin: Shte’teen.

Liked and subscribed - I never knew Raeder resigned, but Hitler went thru his top men at an alarming rate so anything possible in war time - going back for a second listen about the (Liepzeig?) An amazing fighter apparently with a proud battle record.

Boy! Poor Leipzig! She couldn’t catch a break. And the moment you mentioned carrying refugees I thought, “This won’t end well. “ 😬

animosity between Goering and someone else? inconceivable! (I do not think that word means what I think you think it means)

I find it interesting that the only effective Kreigsmarine force was the underseaboots.

Real shame to have a CV 85% completed and never see any service whatsoever, If she had been commissioned near the start of the war, she could have had an impact of some sort.

Part of the problem with the Graf Zeppelin was that the Luftwaffe would not provide any aircraft for the Kriegsmarine since Hitler played people against each other

(12:48) I think that's the fault of thick fog and of my grandfather in duty, on board of the Prinz Eugen.

It was originally built by the Poles before WW2 as Gdynia so reverted to that name after WW2.

Decent video on an interesting topic :) a bit of constructive criticism: try to vary how you end your sentences. Many of them end the same way... "Blah blah blah.... blah. Blah blah blah... blah." Otherwise, great video with good information :)
