Hi! Thanks so much :) I'm not sure what you mean, but i was never interested in dentistry, and vets do lots of dentistry on their animal patients all the time!

I've had my German Shepherd for over 4 years and he has never been on oral flea meds and sleeps in my bed. He never once has gotten fleas or ticks and I check him regularly... Do vets just use flea meds as a method to keep the client coming back and feeding them money? I can't help but think how much 4 years of my 120lb dog taking oral flea meds would cost and how much unnecessary insecticide he ingested over his lifetime. Domestic dogs live shorter lifespans than wolves in captivity. I'm not saying it's flea meds but there is surely a reason and that wouldn't surprise me if it's partially related to flea meds/insecticides. Also in the event that my dog did ever get fleas, it seems like that would be a easy thing to get rid of with other methods?

Hey there, I was just wondering if you had to work during your studies? And how you balanced that with school and having a social life? I'm hoping to pass the preselection phase in 2023 but I'm really nervous about balancing everything

Hey Hannah! Luckily, I never had to work during my studies due to student loan and parental help, so I don't know much about balancing that with school and a social life. But I definitely think if I was working I would've had to sacrifice a lot of the fun things I've gotten to do at uni so far. Hi Jess! Quick question, how long is vet school where you live? I am in high school (Grade 9) and looking at it as a career. However, I don't know how long I can live away from my puppy and human family. I'm thinking about maybe taking a vet tech course instead. What do you think???

5 years in NZ I believe. Also yes, it is a big commitment but you can always visit during holidays. But if that's too much maybe vet tech/vet nursing is a really good alternative option 😊 I'm in winter break in Aus rn, lots of my international friends in vet school with me have just gone back to their countries to visit their family. My friends in vet school are the most hard working people I know, lots of them are working 1-2 jobs so they can visit their families/pay bills. Of course I'm only in second year, so the content is not quite as hard yet (but still v hard don't be fooled).
