Bonjour everyone!
In this week's video I am just taking you along with me in a week in my life.
And an update on the cookbook which I am currently finalizing. So exciting! I am also getting a bit scared and overly perfectionist to be honest, but it's all part of the process!
As always, thank you for being here!
Love,
Marloes

Marloes...such a beautiful array of content in this Vlog! Let's begin with wth the sneak peak of your cookbook thru the photos you shared - the images are fantastic - I don't think William-Sonoma could do it better! Sharing Beaune with us is always special and getting us back to the country, the incredible landscape, the beautiful cows, and your peaceful home is one of the reasons you are one of my favorite content creators. Just beautiful Marloes - thank you!

Thank you for mentioning your cookbook. The illustrations that you have shown in this video that are in your cookbook are excellent and they not only look delicious, but they also inspire you to live this same lifestyle. Very well done! The bakery you visited looks so amazing. The food, what can one say. You can tell just by looking into the glass cabinets, that the baked goods are made with love and precision. A beautiful winery that captures the old world ambiance is such a find. Love the fossils. Just a quick mention. I find the volume of the video is low. You have such a beautiful soft and calming voice and I love to hear what you have to say. Music seems to be louder. Thought you might like to know. The video content is wonderful and it may be you are far from the microphone.

You don't talk too much btw... I always enjoy your videos. They are done so well. I am so glad you kept doing them... I found them by chance (or divine connection) & they have been such a blessing to my life. I am going thru a season of restoration & my health (diagnosises) have isolated me since 2020. I seem to be vicariously living thru KZbin at times. So, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma USA... thank you, for sharing your life. ❤

Thank you for taking us to the restaurants to see the recipes you will include in your book. That’s a great idea. How generous of them to share.I love seeing your beautiful fields and home, the village of Beaune is so lovely. There is something so sad about summers end , yet there is beauty in September as you said in the light and the days are still warm.The sunsets where I live have been breathtaking. Your flowers for your guests are so pretty. I love cosmos and the zinnias. So nice for a guest to arrive to fresh just picked flowers. Thank you again 🌸

The violet one is „Malve“ (mallow) and the white one is „Stechapfel“ in German (datura and yes, toxic). And there has been „Meerrettich“ (horseradish), too. The yellow one will become a mullein, I think. Would like to get your book with autograph of possible 😉🙋🏼‍♀️

And very proliferative if let go to seed. Noxious! The pink purplish ones are Mallow a relative of holly hock, seeds freely. The silvery fern like plant looks like pigweed, a weed but think maybe edible?

Please be careful. In Portugal, last month, hundreds of people became ill due to Datura Stramonium contamination in corn flour and, consequently, corn bread. It was very difficult to find out why so many people were getting sick and the consumption of this bread was no longer available in part of the country. On the other hand,Mallow plant not only has edible flowers but also has immense medicinal properties and that’s why is widely used in my country. Love, Susana.

The first plant you’re showing is Kaasjeskruid or Malva in Dutch, Mallow in English. The second plant is called Doornappel or Duivelskruid in Dutch. It’s related to potatoes and tomatoes and every part of it is highly toxic. Consider wearing gloves when handling it. End of summer it’ll produce thorny fruits and its black seeds, when roasted, are very hallucinogenic. It can be quite invasive and it’s called Thorn apple in English.

Good morning Marloes. I am so excited about your cook book too and will send you my email address. The white flowers that you don't know what they are may be called nightshade. @FrenchCountryLife
@FrenchCountryLife Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Given the fact that my followers are around the world, Amazon was the best option in terms of logistics and shipping costs for the buyer. I understand your concern with them but I've had to weigh many options. If I would have the books shipped to me and then ship to the buyers the shipping for most people would have been more than the cost of the book itself plus the handling that we would have to be able to manage. I'm sorry but after consideration, this turned out to be the best option.

May I ask what you are able and unable to taste at this point, and how this affects testing your recipes?
@FrenchCountryLife
@FrenchCountryLife Жыл бұрын
You may! Things taste off. For example sweet peppers taste like soap, grains like sesame seeds etc as well. Strawberries and melons have a strong vinegar taste and ginger is a bizarre mix of burnt chlorine and pepper. Also I am afraid to rely on my quantities for salt and pepper etc. So my husband and boys help me taste everything and give me honest feedback and then help me make adjustments. But in any case everyone will bring their own little touch to the recipes, I’m sure!

Hi I arrived in Beaune yesterday to finalise house contracts for my new home in Maizeries Sur Amance. I love Beaune and this time my visit will include my dog who has accompanied me with the move to France. We are off to the famous Beaune Market today, so if your there and you see a 6'4" strawberry blond big Aussie with a Corgi Jack Russell,that's me 😁

@@FrenchCountryLife Thank you but unfortunately the house inside is hideous and lacks character. I have restored a few old homes in my lifetime and I could not visualise at all on how to improve it. It's too small inside and the stairway is made for Hobbits ! I'm 6'4" wide shouldered and I couldn't get up through this tiny stairway unless I crawled up. Neighbours popped over and they also agreed that it lacks character and will take a lot of money and effort to reconfigure the house. So I am putting it back on the market and in the meantime I will be renting Airbnb cottages in the off peak season. My first place booked is in Merry la Vallee. I'll do this for a year or more and will be seeking to find the ideal home for myself and my dog. I must keep the french adventure moving not to be stagnated 😁
