Sis. My hair started literally FALLING out like crazy in 2020. Long story short I was Vitamin D deficient. I've been on vitamin D3 and vitamin B complex. I was constantly exhausted to the point that I had to cut back days of work.. My hair is growing back healthy & long again and full. It was terrible . Hair wld be on the shower walls If I touched it 50 times hair came out 50 times

Hi megz , I have been natural for 7 years and you’re actually one of the first relaxed/naturals that I started following from when I was 11 (I am turning 21 next month!) , through trial and error, being redirected by the community at least a 57 times 😂 I have found that simplicity is absolutely key, I had your exact problems but with natural hair. I chopped off my hair 3 times after having grown my choppy 4c hair to my mid back, I was proud but not satisfied because as you say, our roots look promising and there’s no problem with length but the density just isn’t there. After following the no oil / no butter and turning to becoming a blow dried natural as a last resort, I actually l learnt about the integrity of hair. Meaning, that after all those years, paying attention to detail and everything, I was STILL unintentionally breaking my hair, leaving my roots normal and my length compromised. I fixed my deficiencies throughout the years but my hair wasn’t improving until I understood, growing denser hair that has a consistent density from root to tip , is about maintaining the integrity of the hair. Now my hair is turning into the hair of my dreams, of which I always seen the roots to have this potential, it was just an obstacle of understanding. Hair needs hydration and moisture, the hydration on wash day is enough to last at least a week if you seal it in properly with a lipid rich substance (butters, grease, oils) , then just put it in some plaits, focusing extra butter/grease on the ends to ensure ends don’t tangle. Some grease on the scalp that will trickle down the strands throughout the week to relubricate. This was the routine most of us (well not me) had as a kid and had flourishing plaits. This type of hair care, oils/butter/grease + plaits is / was found in all cultures, wether it was Victorian women with greasy plaits and updos, Indians heavily oiling and massaging, then plaiting the hair, Ethiopians smothering their hair in butter and wearing plaits, or the now popular Chadian women with greased up plaits, Ghanaians and Nigerians with Shea butter and threading/braids etc , the next important factor is time. Leave hair as is until it is wash day again to get your hair back up at 100% moisture and 100% hydration :) My new growth has been shooting out the past 6 months and my dyed hair is rapidly elongating and becoming darker after this epiphany, I allow my hair to be now, I went from weekly washing to every 2-3 weeks. You’re in the right direction 🩷

In most cases, the reason why women lose an excessive amount of hair could also be the pre-menopause/menopause stage. The best vitamins that would help that is a vitamin called Nutrofol, estroven supplements, Ritual vitamins, Centrum for women, or One a day. Nutrofol and Ritual, you would have to order it online. Estroven or Amberen supplements would be in local drug stores like Duane Reade, CVS, Rite Aid, etc. I am a pharmacy technician in New York and certified, I use to work at Rite Aid Pharmacy. I hope this helps ladies.

I recently had a set back because my stylist was no listening to me. She has tried products on my hair that don't mesh well on my relaxed hair. And also kept choosing not to relax the font part of my hair because she felt like it did not need it. Well because of the 2 different textures I had breakage on the area. I tried to hard to make it smooth so it meshed well with my relaxed hair. if she just would have relaxed it I would not have had that problem. Needless to say after all these years I may need to find a new stylist.

Hey Megz, Thanks for sharing girl. Your hair is coming along nicely. Right now I’m trying to rebuild my hair again. Like you I never had a problem with length especially in the back but my front always needed a little more TLC 😊and right at the crown (or my mother use to say back in the day you Soft Spot). I transitioned and did a chop to natural back in 2014 so it will be 10yrs this October 30th. My hair flourished once I got my routine together and grew as normal. Then I had a small set back in 2018 then did fine up until somewhere in 2022 (Life was Life-in 😅) and I began blowing my hair out, wearing braids ect.. and now I here 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️So I’ve too been reverting back to older methods and I’m slowly (key word Slowly) lol coming along but it’s gonna be a longer road and not to mention I’m older too LMBOOOO so my hair and texture is different.. @ulovemegz11 ай бұрын
Yes the Geritol is definitely helping me grow out the less healthy hair. I'll be cutting off the thin ends next month.
@ced890311 ай бұрын
folks we have to be honest we know the reason for this. The top is natural healthy hair and the ends are thin, over processed and relaxed. No amount of protein treatments will change the hairs density as it has been chemically altered and damaged. Lets be real please.
@ulovemegz11 ай бұрын
@@ced8903 yes the previous hair is definitely unhealthy but I've fixed my hair numerous times over the years from being thin and overprocessed with this exact routine! It just takes time consistency and patience to have healthy hair whether someone chooses to relax their hair or be natural. It ALL takes work.
@ced890311 ай бұрын
The science is clear. You cannot actually reverse or fix hair damage, you have to just grow it out and deal with breakage as to not let the hair continue to break up the shaft. The only “healthy” hair will be the virgin hair that grows from your scalp. Black hair is prone to breakage and weakening it with chemical relaxer results in the thinning and “string” look that we all are used to. Unfortunately this is the reality. Chemically relaxing hair comes at a price which is unfortunate because I know it can be “easier to deal with” or we prefer the look of straight hair but this is again the science. I would suggest stretching relaxers and also protective styles but that is the best we can do.
@ulovemegz11 ай бұрын
@@ced8903 Yes, that's why a consistent routine is necessary. Everything you mentioned I discussed in this video and in many other videos here on my channel for many years. Gaining hair health is very possible while relaxed with the proper routine recovery care if some does choose to relax. It will not be fixed overnight, but with consistency and new growth over time, the results will show with the proper routine, and that's what I'm doing and being transparent to share with viewers who are experiencing the same! We all have to START somewhere. I'm just here to help and keep a positive outlook while sharing what always has worked. 🤗

My hair is very long, but I noticed that it sheds alot and just will not get to that luster I had in high school when I use to watch you back in the day. I think all of our problem is we strayed away from that old school thing - the grease, the simple shampoo and conditioner. Even more heat was good for us. Kept the tangles away. We all tried to go natural, use less heat, and skip the mineral oils and parabens - things that in a real way worked for us. We ALSO aren't eating what's in our parents house anymore. Back then - I ate breakfast lunch and dinner and had more meat. For years now, I've been intermittent fasting, disordered eating, eating once a day ect. We need go back to "mama and daddy" meals, and that good reliable sleep schedule and that old pink moisture and ors products.... we were all fixing what wasn't broken. Listening to others and not staying in our own lane
@seatedinhim111 ай бұрын
Also, I noticed from myself that alot of thoes raw ingredients like castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, rosemary oil, pepermint oil are tooooo harsh unless they are chemically blended in a lab. They aren't good unless they are going to be washed out after 15 min - 1hour. Also we have gotten so use to extension we want our natural hair to be as thick as a 3 pack of bundle bust down and that isn't going to happen. Natural thickness or just fine hair is OK too. We need to remember that and thoes good old Lotta Body roller sets.

It's truly been a journey but so happy I finally got some blood work to figure out all along it was my iron deficiency causes all the setbacks and poor diet

Not relaxing bone straight was a game changer for me. I leave some texture.

What you recovering from again sis? Have you ever considered being a flat iron natural? You will maintain the integrity of your hair?
@ulovemegz Жыл бұрын
I tried it and it wasn't for me but maybe in the future. I found out I'm severely iron deficient

They must. have a lighter version of Castor oil because everybody's using it? I thought it was just too thick!
@ulovemegz2 ай бұрын
You can dilute it with another oil. Thats what I do.

I read somewhere relaxers are being banned in the USA, is it true?
@WhatTheKink11 ай бұрын
No. Straighteners containing formaldehyde are being banned. Relaxers don’t have formaldehyde.

I want to relax my hair, but I have fibroids, and kept hearing it is cause by relaxers here on KZbin 😩I was so disappointed to hear that, as I always had relaxers, in the past and loved it, I am natural for about 8 years now, but I went natural for a change back then, but now I am hesitant to relax
@ulovemegz Жыл бұрын
Heeey thank you for sharing. I've been hearing the same also, I have friends and family members who have never had relaxers and had fibroids, so it's hard to pinpoint what exactly causes them, in my opinion, and conversations with a few doctors I've had. I think it's the hormones and GMOs in our processed foods and birth control, etc, but I don't think anyone really really knows what the exact cause is.

I don't believe the relaxer and fibroid link. My mom and sister are natural and suffer from fibroid and cysts respectively while I am fully relaxed for many many many years and have none. I know many others just like this

Get a silk press every month or learn to silk press yourself. Why not wear the hair flat ironed 100% of the time instead of relaxer were you start dealing with excess shedding ? 😓
