The Mom/Daughter relationship becomes stronger once they turn 18 and even stronger when they turn 21. It’s a relationship that builds over a lifetime. But this season of life also allows her to grow as her person and you to grow as your person and also allows some branching out for both of you. Looking forward to seeing where the seasons lead you both 🫶🏻

This video inspired some random observations for me on this mother's day, so I thought I'd share. You are so overwhelmed at the beginning, by the unbelievably incredible amount of love you feel when they come into the world! You spend years agonizing over how to raise them properly, focusing on every minute detail, and struggling with all that comes with that. Then one day you realize, miraculously, that you are there. You have done it. Their childhood, is over. Then this whole other emotion overwhelms you. 🥰 There is no moment on earth more bittersweet. It is then that you realize. Motherhood is not any one moment. It's ALL the moments. The ones that brought you there. And the ones yet to come.

So excited for this next chapter for you both! I had my car in Brooklyn with me for the first year or so and it was sooo helpful with the transition to living in NY. Just having the ability to go where I wanted when I wanted and not feel… trapped? lol. That said, it got super expensive and I sold it a few months ago and now I have a different sense of freedom. Also taking your time to look for your first apartment in/around NY is so helpful too. Hopefully by looking more towards the fall, you’ll have an easier (and cheaper) time lol.

I have watched this video 3 times and kept thinking what am I’m going to comment about motherhood. I feel like I know what you’re going through but not really because my daughter is only 3 years old and I can’t imagine her being 18. She is my whole world. We spend 24/7 together so I can’t imagine being away from her when she gets older. I know you and Annica have such a great relationship that it will get stronger and she’ll always want/need her mama. I can’t wait to see what all the more adventures you girls go on! ❤

@pvm07086 ай бұрын
At this point i dont think your mom will be moving out if you know what i mean 😅. Also, coming from a 28 ( almost 29) year old daughter who still lives at home with her parents, extend your grown kids some grace. I obviously don't know the situation and what them still living at home means but, assuming that they are taking the necessary steps to better themselves ( whether that'd be studying or working) so that they can be independent in the future, all they need is support cause in today's day and age where even a one bedroom apartment can be unaffordable at times, sometimes living at home can be the only option. I'm not here to dismiss your feelings and, again, i dont know your situation at all so i could be way off line apart from the fact that it is completely natural for parents to want to have their space at some point again in their life ( it is the circle of life after all) but i'm just speaking from the grown child's perspective. It ain't easy for us either. At all. We already feel so behind in life as it is, can't wait to have our independence at some point and can even feel like we're disturbing by still being at home. If on top of that you add that your mom can't wait to have you out it can truly be a punch in the gut.
@eileenseaman33936 ай бұрын
@@pvm0708 I am very aware of how living expenses are out of control. I have never asked my boys to leave ( unless they give me a disrespectful attitude which is rare ) and then I just throw the whole you can get your own apartment or house at anytime you feel you need to have your own place. They can afford it. They both have good jobs. I also am doing all the laundry, cleaning, yard work, + driving my mom to all her doctors appointments and social gatherings so I feel I earn the right to say they have my blessing to get their own place at those times and I don’t say it harshly. They do live a great life here. I am in my 60’s, retired after running my own business to take care of my mom so I do say it loosely I’m ready to be an empty nester. I’m glad you are still able to live at home too. I will never throw my kids out and even joke that one day if they find someone and want a family they’ll all still be living with me.

Not a mom here, but a daughter with a close relationship with her momma 🙋🏻♀️ I’m 24 and I moved out 2 years ago. You said the part that her childhood is ending, and maybe it does feel like that but truly I didn’t feel like an adult until about a year ago at 23. And even now I still call my mom for help and harass her all the time because I just feel like hanging out with her haha. At 18 I couldn’t afford to move out because it was too expensive so I stayed until 22 when I happened to find a great apartment out of nowhere and it wasn’t planned at all, I probably would have stayed home even longer. Also touching quickly on where to move in the NY area, if you want a parking spot then you probably won’t have any luck in any of the boroughs except maybe Brooklyn or Staten Island. If you go to New Jersey, you would maybe have some luck in Hoboken to still feel like you live in the city while only having to hop on a quick train to nyc. I live further in NJ in a town that gives the Georgetown feel and I know you love that, and I also live like literally on the train station so from me it’s a 45min ride to nyc. But then I feel like that defeats the purpose of saying you want to live in the city LOL

Parents have more control and decision making veto before age 18. Now I have to hope my adult child makes the right decisions for herself and my grandson. She was a good kid and she is an amazing adult and mother but the worry is always there. As Lorelei Gilmore says (paraphrasing) you don’t have your mom card when they are adults.
