I always like seeing what you come up with for wide angle shots. I struggle to effectively use wide angle lenses. I find it more difficult to come up with a composition that fills the frame with interest but not a distraction or a giant area of nothingness. As a result, I always find myself gravitating toward tighter compositions. I was reminded of this when you mentioned how low to the ground wide angle shots was often your "go to" composition. I always find I am ending up just the opposite although I really do love a well composed wide angle image.
@PaulGJohnsonphotography3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment David. My go to with intimate landscapes has been 50mm (FF) but if shooting wide angle or ultra wide I feel that a strong foreground element works well for me personally. Getting low down particularly if there isn't a strong back ground (like in the Peaks) can help to balance the image.

Another video, what a treat! As an aside, I wonder if you know a podiatrist called Chris Davies from Huddersfield?

Hi Oswald. Yes I do, Chris was a Lecturer at Uni and he is one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet. An absolute legend in my eyes.

@@PaulGJohnsonphotography I did tech support in human & health for many years, based in Ramsden so our paths may have passed. Happy to call Chris a mate, not sure what he’s up to now, only seen him a couple of times since he retired.

@@oswaldbastable4139 Do you know Mark Simpson and Paul Dagg then ?
@oswaldbastable41393 жыл бұрын
@@PaulGJohnsonphotography Yes I know them both. Mark married a podiatry student called Debbie Turner, I think they moved to Australia. I remember Paul when he was a student in Behavioural Sciences and later when he worked in technical support, he's still there afaik. Don't want to creep you out, I'm not a stalker honest!, but I bought my campervan from the same place as you. Small world at times init :-)

Debbie and Mark are some of our best friends, they spent their last xmas with us in the UK before going to OZ. My wife and I were in the same year as Debbie x. They are both doing very well. Paul and Abbie, his wife are also friends of ours as their daughter went to the same playgroup as our daughter. You made a good choice purchasing your camper van from there. Great guys.

Ahh around the 04:20 mark you sum up my most hated feature of the Z series nikons, if it needs an adaptor you have to take the bloody camera off the tripod and set it up again!

Lovely images paul , trying to get back into the habit of going out again. How do you like the Z

Thanks David. It ticks the boxes. EVF in low light is a life saver for me with older eyes. However I can't feel it disconnects me a bit from the experience. Nothing beats looking through an optical viewfinder. Hence me buying the 645. However the weight and particularly size is useful and I can now focus in low light. :)
