A few tough challenges for Steel this week. He struggled a little, but ultimately dealt with each one very well. #steelsjourney #meadowview #shadslegacy #dogtraining #meditatewithyourdog #germanshepherd

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this channel. I feel so much for Steel. He reminds me of my 2yo GSD Murphy, very similar issues with reactivity, anxiety, restlessness, stress etc. & although Murphy isn’t a rescue, he didn’t have a lot of great experiences when my brother previously had him. I also empathise with your experience of dealing with Steel. Your channel is so refreshing & makes me feel better about the work I’m doing with Murphy, seeing that there are other GSDs out there dealing with the same things. I’m still trying to find the best way to walk him as he pulls so hard that I need to get my dad to walk him. It’s difficult trying to help a GSD when I struggle with chronic pain & I don’t have cooperation from the other person that lives with us when it comes to sticking to training. Mixed messages for Murphy is the thing making it all 10x harder but unfortunately I can’t change that person & how they interact with the world so I just need to do the best I can to help Murphy be the best GSD he can be 😊

I'm very sorry for the very late reply, but I didn't get notifications for some of the comments that people have left. It can be very hard when you're trying to train a dog but someone else is maintaining bad habits. Keep trying, stay positive and soon your dog will understand who is the true leader and provider. If you're still struggling to walk Murphy, I highly recommend the figure-8 leads that I use; they give you control of the dog's head and don't tighten on the neck at all, just make sure that you introduce it with positivity and rewards and go slow. Thank you so much for watching, best of luck.

What is wrong with him?

Hi, I'm sorry for the late response, I wasn't getting notifications for some of the comments. Steel has severe anxiety. He was found with horrible injuries which have left him blind in one eye and with brain damage. The people who run the rescue had to teach him how to walk again, and I was called in to help with his rehabilitation and socialisation so that he can eventually find his forever home. Thank you very much for watching.
