So real, girl. We are suffering over here in the U.S. Totally agree with you on reading, mental health in politics, fighting for people's rights, and being vocal. So happy there are content creators out there that acknowledge that. Thank you.

I don't think I've ever commented on your videos before but I've been a viewer for a couple of months now and your calm presence is something that soothes me every time I need it. Nina, thank you for your talk about how everything we do is political, there's been a very frustrating side of the book community that doesn't think politics belong in reading/books which i find so silly because it is due to those same politics that they can read books written by women today. anyways loved your book talks and it makes me soooo happy to know that you loved 'the details' I read it last year and it instantly became a fave, I loved how it explored how deep some relationships we form with people are. hearing you talk about it made me want to pick it up and reread. im also thrilled that you're loving 'Elena knows'!!!! piñeiro is such a gem

Nina I've been following you for years and I just appreciate your pov so much. I'm a therapist and my counseling program (California) was very social justice oriented and it's very different from most programs! I'm grateful for what I learned. Decolonizing Therapy is an important read. It's important that as mental health professionals we don't just push people to adjust and fit in to a society that is broken.

Re: your chat about passion and time….I just heard an analogy that we are like sponges. We need to absorb in order to squish it all out. And the absorbing time is really important. But we cannot languish in either phase, because we can become over saturated or parched from output. It has been such a nice visual for me, thinking of myself like a cute little sponge and trying to be curious if I am dry or wet, and if I am wet then just how wet!

I read The Details when it first came out, I loved it so much. It made me think of all the people I met, how they changed me and all the versions of me that people got to know. And as a swede I'm also very proud that it made it's way all across the globe :)

As someone new in the mental health field, I completely agree with the political aspects of what we can or cannot to help ourselves. We can talk all we want with talk therapy, but if our everyday lives stay the same then nothing's gonna change. Even buddhist monks tend to go to monasteries to get away from it all and we are trying to not be dissociated in a world that dissociation makes it bearable.

Wow! The last four minutes! I felt so seen!! I wish more people would speak about this. I think growing up as a millennial, we took in so much cultural messaging around following your passion and hustle, that if it doesn’t work out for you to do the thing you love as your work, to be recognized and to achieve monetary success (which is exceedingly difficult to do), the lack of desired outcome is due to your own level of effort or talent. At least that’s what I’ve been grappling with for years. It always felt like a personal failing that I didn’t put my absolute everything (time, money, energy) into doing what I love, and that alone, is the reason I didn’t see traction in my own creative pursuits. Ugh. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience - would love to hear more about this!

As someone also with ADHD, something I keep coming back to is when I asked my therapist, partly out of desperation, if I now have to take my meds for the rest of my life and what it means for me as a person. Who am I even if I need meds to survive? And she said that life is full of seasons. They never last forever. Perhaps now I am in a situation where I HAVE to take my meds to survive, who knows if I'll need them in another season? Similarly, when I told her about how I didn't have time to work on stuff I love, she reminded me that that was just a season I was in in my life. And that has really stuck with me. Perhaps you're just in a season in your life where writing takes a backseat a little. You're still reading, you're still running, you're still really passionate about other things that make you you. Why not just lean into it and trust your mind and body to know what it loves and will come back to?

I’m so in support for not finishing a book if it’s not for me - also I totally agree on the “weird” genre of books! they often come across as pretentious and unenjoyable

This election really really hit me hard. I’m fortunate to live in Seattle, where our state legislators will fight to keep us protected but it’s so sad and scary to see the direction our country has headed. Where did all of our care for one another go? Individually, I have committed to joy in 2025 and beyond. I will dedicate my time and energy towards things that I know make me happy and help my community and we will carry forward, one day at a time.

Haven't read a fiction book in a while, but The Details caught my attention, might give it a go in my busy days. Spent the last days sick with cold mostly on Netflix and while that's okay in such times, I do wish to rest in a more soul soothing way with an audiobook for my sick and tired eyes :)

Ahhh yes! I find it hard to focus when I’m sick so I also end up watching a show or two hehe. Sometimes, even when I’m not sick, I lay in bed and listen to a podcast or audiobook and it is so soothing!! I should do it more often!!
