Very vintage. I love 1940s 50s decor. I still have some of my grandma's stuff from when I was little. I have a tinsel tree that I put in my kitchen with original 1940s ornaments that I've collected over the years and a Putz house village. It all just brings me back to my childhood.

My aunt studied art a few years ago and was teaching people drawing techniques etc and was of course doing commisions of very different kinds. Then she got a dog and met other dogpeople on their walks. Now she almost exclusively draws portraits of dogs. This really is a lucrative niche.

Every ornament on my tree is handmade! Which sounds fancy until I add that they are all made out of unrecyclable packaging material, TP rolls, and popsicle sticks. 😂 I think that's just proof that if you put enough love into something, and give it enough sparkle, it ain't garbage anymore!

I'm Australian and I refuse to allow ice or snow themed decor into the house, nothing makes more upset than looking at a snowflake while it's 36 degrees Celsius. My theme is seasonal fruits. Fruit bat in a santa hat, magpie holding a single bauble, watermelon tablecloth and mangos in a nice bowl.

I'm thrilled to know I've made it, since I already have a hole puncher!!! Your stars are one million times better than the boring craft store ones! Aldi sometimes has great teas for cheap. Look for cranberry-hibiscus. I put two bags in a big jug of water for cold brew. Add a little fresh juice or fruit and it's delightful! You could spray the back of all your stars gold, although you'd probably need to unstring them for that. Feeling very exclamatory today!

I managed to get stardew tix for my oldest for Christmas and tbh I’m probably more excited for it than she will be 😂 I put the release time in my calendar with a reminder so that I wouldn’t miss it, but I wasn’t my expecting them to sell as fast as they did so it’s a good thing I did. My decorating style is either “wait, it’s (holiday)?” Or a themed store vomited all over my house, there is no in between 😅

I started making my own decorations while watching, by cracking walnuts, that will be glued back together, painted gold and hung on string. My grandmother used to have those on her tree and I always wanted some for myself. The best decorations are the ones you can snack on. ✨

When I was in high school I could never buy jeans long enough (I’m 6’). I used to cut about 6” of leg off, then put in an insert of a contrasting fabric. I thought it looked more intentional that way, by having original fabric at the bottom.

The first year in my current house I made so many paper chains and then my housemates didn't want to take them down so we've had them up for like 3 years.... I made some jacaranda ornaments because jacaranda blooms around Christmas in Australia. I want to make more summer relevant decorations... Maybe some lorikeets munching on peaches?

I'm 5'8" and my pants are almost ALWAYS a little too short! My mom taught me to take the hem down and add hem tape to gain an inch or so. I've also taken out jean hems for a raw hem, or rolled the pant leg up for a purposely high-water look. I think it would be really fun to see other creative ways to add length!

I found a recipe for a cornstarch/baking soda dough as an alternative to salt dough for homemade ornaments. They've dried nicely and now I get to paint them! I also made some dried orange slices to turn into a garland. Easy and crafty! My desired aesthetic is definitely maximalist, like that viral tiktok with the layered tree decorating, but that is aspirational rather than my reality

i LOVE those funky ornaments you made - the shapes !! the colors !! i all exclamations about them! i just might have to make some! we make ✨paper chains✨ to hang intermittently with twisted crepe paper streamers, and they’re so so so fun, and instantly make any space so so festive! this year we made mini chains, each is just 1in by 6in, and they’re so cute, i cannot stress how much i am obsessed with them. oh! and it’s a great paper stash buster too - but i love the paper isle of the craft store to resist a brand new pack of paper ahaha
