Brighton was both miserable and hauntingly beautiful to me in my teenage years. I was a foreign exchange student, and Brighton was as "foreign" as it could get for me. I was a stranger in a strange land, but this beautiful old couple who owned a hotel on Regency Square was very kind to me, and they would let me stay at their hotel on the top floor during breaks from my boarding school, and there was this very surreal feeling, they had no reason to be kind to me but they were. I would walk down to the beach with The Cure in my headphones, it felt like both the coldest and the warmest place for me at the same time, when i was just about 15 years old and completely lost without an idea of who i was or what I was supposed to be in life. Brighton beach was beautiful and full of tourists during the day, but fierce and unforgiving at night, the "beach" doesn't actually have any sand, yet people flock to it. It was a strange but inexplicably intoxicating time in my life.

Brighton is one of my favorite places and there is so much fun to do, but also they have great festivals throughout the year. Brighton has great B&Bs and one years ago provided the most stunning scrambled eggs in a smoked salmon bowl for breakfast.

We go there a lot when we visit every year and we visited there more when we lived there of course lol :) I agree with you Jess that London and Brighton are up there to visit if people are to visit England - I have to say along with Bath, the Cotswolds, White Cliffs of Dover, The Lake District and pretty much any castle or beach/countryside you can get too lol So glad you enjoyed your chocolate overload at Choccywoccydoodah lol! 😂 Steve - those machines for stuffed animals are such a tease lol 😂 Love that Jess went to Lush lol I so love that place AND actually - if you guys are phenomenalized by the bombs - they will let you see a demonstration in the stores for free :) There are quite a few faves, but I won't name them here lol as there are too many! Lol Happy Birthday Steve! Look forward to seeing how you celebrate next! :D haha Also Jess! If you are looking for over alls, i believe they sell these more in the summer from my experience - I could be wrong as a store might still carry them, but I hope this helps lol

Next time you're in Brighton try the ice cream parlour by the I 360 and take the Number bus along the coast to Saltdean in the summer and visit the Lido and Saltdean beach
