I've been a welcome home fan for a while. I missed the fun tiktok videos. Colorful and cheerful videos, now a days there's spicy wally edits... I don't mind them, but i missed march 2023.

I am part of the Hispanic WH fandom and from the things I saw on both sides, it is difficult for the fandom to recover at the moment, since for my part I have seen many controversial aus that were coming out in this part and all that brought more toxicity . He is clearly recovering little by little, but all that and what you mentioned will remain as a mark in the fandom.

I first joined Welcome Home back in May of 23, but all of the horrible AUs, the insane Wally simps, and all of that stuff was enough to scare me off until around early September when it started to calm down. I’m still in the Welcome Home fandom right now, and i’m honestly kinda grateful to see it become more of a chill, smaller fandom. I DO miss seeing it all over my reccomdended, but the fanbase is healthier now in my opinion.

@@UmbraticStickerz I respect Clown’s boundaries but sadly as hard as one tries the toxic fans will post what they want, yes fans respect Clown but what saddens me is the lack of transparency with fans. Kids in the fandom shouldn’t be subjected to criticism. I love writing and AU’s offer a great prompt to try. I get there’s gonna be too much later down the line but hey that’s how it is, all we can do is offer places where boundaries are held high and will not be trampled l. I don’t wanna see a good thing destroyed

@@UmbraticStickerz I’m glad you made this video, this should be more prominent out there. Honestly I feel bad for the creator of the ‘rainbow factory’ AU. I never got into it but I know that feeling when something you create is twisted

No no I agree on that, though it still was incredibly toxic which is what I was meaning and was just stating what happened which was the fact people were comparing them and stuff and why!(why being to try to call the welcome home fandom toxic and problematic)

@@UmbraticStickerz Maybe it’s just me because I don’t interact with gross people but in the 9-10 years I’ve been in that fandom, I’ve only been aware of 3-4 people. I think the reason toxic parts in fandoms make any fandom look bad is because they’re so LOUD about their grossness (and I’m sure there’s some then those 4), however it’s not fair to label a whole fandom as toxic based on that very loud and obnoxious 10%. Just like it’s not fair how people our trying to label Welcome Home’s fandom (another fandom I’m in) as bad based on the 10%. And I’m not even saying this about Undertale or Welcome Home anymore because I’ve seen this with so many fandoms before. All it takes is one person to ruin it for everyone and make your fandom look bad based on their awful decisions. And I think that mentality needs to stop. Fandoms aren’t toxic but every fandom has a, very small, toxic side. Ah, sorry for the small rant there, I get a bit passionate about fandom culture

@grimlin903 all good about the rant! I love hearing people's opinions about this stuff! (Cw since this delves into topics of predatory behavior) I was in the undertale for a long time, even recently. I had seen a lot, and I mean a lot, of gross or just creepy stuff in that fandom. Some people tried to make it less obvious or tried to normalize it such as BlogTheGreatRouge. Or there were others who were actively harassing creators over not making ship related things canon and taking down story stuff(one of the flowerfell creators being a victim of this). Frans was also incredibly popular which wasn't really a small section of the fandom seeing as it was legit everywhere and a ton of people shipping it, a good chunk of aus having it canon too(Axetale is an example actually). Creeps where hidden in plain sight everywhere, Camilia Cuavas and the over 30 gr00mers/p3dos she was knowingly harboring in her glitchtale server including the creator of Xtale/Underverse(and their partner) is a really good(but unfortunate) example of this. I agree that we shouldn't label a fandom as toxic due to a small percentage of people in the fandom, though Undertale wasn't really a vocal minority but a large majority of that fandom. Even now, actually. Cannibal_is_here tried to join the fandom again after so many years, and creeps kept interacting with them constantly they ended up leaving again(to my knowledge) because of how unsafe they felt. My older sister was groomed in that community as well, and creeps tried to prey on me too.

@@UmbraticStickerz I knew you were going to say Rouge the moment you said predator. Her and Cam but I knew Cam was a toxic even before Undertale because they, and all her friends, bullied another content creator on DeviantArt until he almost…self deleted himself. And she only got away with it because she distracted everyone with Glitchtale when it debuted. This was years ago so I’m not surprised people don’t know about it but back then, if you spoke even a lick of bad word about her, you’d be her next victim of abuse. So I wasn’t surprised at all that she was revealed to be into kids. The other two awful people I remember was the creator of Lusttale (they’re alright now after going to therapy and sorting out their own trauma, but they used to ship fontcest) and the creator of Dreamtale (other awful shit but they shipped Dream and Nightmare….the brothers of the AU…and it was going to be canon) Now, I will admit, I DID take a 5 year break from UT because I was obsessing over TMNT (a fandom I’ve been in since I was 3…special interest actually lol) so maybe my memory is based on nostalgia and maybe I’ve just catered my experience with normal people? But I’ve also been harassed by people outside the fandom more than people in it just for enjoying the game. Which is just weird? Of course there are UT fans who crap on anyone who likes, indulges in, or makes AUs so I think everyone might just be a little bit extreme. This isn’t meant to dismiss your, your friend, or sister’s feelings or experiences in any way BTW(!) and I’m sorry if anything I’ve said might have sounded like that! Typing tone and conversation is way harder than speaking in person ajajdhsh

@grimlin903 yeah, Camilia was god awful and I wish people saw the warning signs sooner before a lot of people had fallen victim to her and her friends. I only mentioned her and Rouge because they were the first that came to mind though of course there's the creator of Underverse and their partner I briefly mentioned that are also predators(which Camilia was fully aware of too) and unfortunately are still supported to this day.(to my knowledge) I remember the lusttale person, but I hadn't known that about the Dreamtale creator wtf. It kinda depends on the person and stuff of course. I personally was harassed more by the fandom itself than anyone outside of it. But I can see it happening a lot with those outside it. And dw! I didn't take anything as dismissing our experiences!!!/gen I just wanted to explain my side on it! I know how tone with texting can be xdhgzngesjy5.
