i gotta say, i do appreciate them including the detail that himiko is even more upset about tenko's death BECAUSE they didn't get along that well while she was alive. that's something people don't tend to expect, but that i've noticed a lot with grieving; people who were unkind to the deceased tend to take a really long time to mourn. it hits especially hard when you cared for the deceased on some level, but still didn't treat them well, and now you know you won't get a chance to turn things around. same goes for if the deceased was cruel, because it means their chance to change for the better was also taken away. i actually think it's great that this game decided to really dive into some different types of grief for once.

He says Miu made a mistake when giving Keebo his flashlights and didn't even notice. It's that Keebo can't see when his flashlights are on so he couldn't have done it. Miu gets tricked and flustered, but Keebo doesn't play along with the lie which leads to Miu reciting Cartman's lines from that one episode of South Park with the iPad. "Hey! If you're gonna fuck me in front of everyone, at least buy me dinner first!" "Well, Shuichi... Tryin' to make a fool outta me, huh? This trial may not be the most popular one but it does have its moments. Kaito trying to help Himiko out with Tenko's case. Also Kokichi and Miu's ridiculous interactions. Maki helping Shuichi to lie. And Himiko is also getting some nice development here right now which I love. Kaito talking about how it's okay for people to keep secrets as long as it doesn't have any malice behind it. Showing that Kaito's belief in everyone. As Kokichi on the other hand doesn't agree with this, he thinks that secrets all have malice behind them. It shows how he doubts everyone. It's an interesting foil of eachother.

I know a lot of people get angry at Kokichi for what he says to Himiko about her being full of BS, but for me that was so needed. I was so frustrated with Himiko for only caring about Tenko after she died, while treating her like complete garbage while she was alive for the majority of the plot. It reminds me of how easily people are taken for granted only being thought about after it's too late to treat them right. Like people who end their lives and are only given love from their peers after it happened but never showed them even a moment of kindness while they were alive. Having someone call her out for that was cathartic for me. I like that he's one of those characters that are willing to tell the kinds of truth most people are too afraid to say cause it will hurt that persons feeling. In that manner he's one of the most honest characters in the group.

Kokichi is one of, if not, THE most popular character in the game. He has a huge fan base. He is the kind of character that can only be appreciated after the game is over, just like Byakuya. They make the plot interesting but man are they annoying yappy brats. You're right though, no one was going to upset Himiko about Tenko but she needed to say it out loud that she's angry. Himiko regrets not giving Tenko respect enough to confront her about feeling uncomfortable with the super strong advances.

Never doubted once what he was up to during chapter 5 and I ended up completely right when it came to his motives. From what I hear from Japanese fans him saying, "Uso Dayo"/ "It's a lie" is a common indicator he's telling the truth when using his tone of voice to tell as he often claims to be lying right after saying something truthful. So that's one way that an american can kinda start to pick up on it, but it certainly is a lot less clear in localization when he is or isn't beng honest. That's why personally I go by his actions, since actions speak louder than words.

Like among the people who like his character he's insanely popular, but among those who hate him tend to say he's their least favorite. It's why I'd consider him the most polarizing character in the whole franchise. Since people especially in the west who watched the english localization tend to either love him or hate his guts. In Japan he tends to be less polarizing as his character is less harsh (most of the rudest things he says are only in the localization) and more obvious to tell when he's lying or not which makes it easier to give him the benefit of the doubt.
