This is the first NSMB mod of any kind that's captured my full attention since Super Mario Bros. Wonder was announced. Seeing a fully 3D modeled environment in a game that previously stuck entirely to 2D environments has left me in awe, and I feel confident saying that, whatever the final version fo the project turns out to be, it's going to be superb. This is absolutely gorgeous!!! Oh, where to start... The perspective is incredible. It feels so euphoric and intriguing. I haven't felt this genuine sense of presence within a digital atmosphere since Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii. I absolutely love the attentiveness to bringing this world to fruition; Every detail feels so intentional, from the breathtaking backgrounds to the way the blocks crumble as Mario hits them. This looks amazing! I’m really enjoying the visual depth you’ve added with various layers! One key thing to keep in mind though is making sure enemies stay readable even with a foreground present-mainly in the cave with crystals and goombas. Just resizing them a touch lower to make sure more of the enemies’ models are visible will help a lot with clarity and prevent potential player frustration

First off, let me start off by saying that I'm honestly really glad that this reveal trailer showed up on my KZbin home page. In all my all my times of playing through literally countless amounts of NSMB Wii mods and hacks, I honestly never really thought that NSMB Wii can be modified like this. Making a retro 2D Mario mod is literally such a genius idea. This is the very first time in a very long time that NSMB Wii modding has mentally destroyed me in the most amazing way possible. I've never felt like that since I first found out about Newer SMB Wii. In my genuine opinion, this mod truly shatters the limits of what NSMB Wii modding is. I bet this is the mod that NSMB Wii modding fans and members weren't even expecting. I truly can't wait for the full, completed release of this😄😄😄😄 Btw, this mod deserves its own dedicated discord server so that we can interact with other people who interested in this mod

LOVE the camera work! I'm personally a big fan of aspect ratio of the older mario games as it allowed for a lot more quick decision-making and allow for level designers to hide a lot more stuff off-screen compared to the aspect ratio of the console NSMB games which are wide to emphasize modern aspect ratios for fancy HD screens.

Not say that the original game looked bad,but this one looks amazing,the use of a 3d model stages and backgrounds really complement the 3d playable characters and enemies so well and not only it makes the world feel more alive it also makes the characters feel like they belong in it,it reminded me of Mario Galaxy 2 beginning where you play briefly the game in 2D,and it also reminded me of retro studio's Donkey Kong country returns in terms of the visual style this mod/rom hack uses. Again this looks freaking incredible,I'm literally astonished by the visuals,the modders as always are cooking with the mods and rom hacks.🔥🔥🔥

I am really interested in how this works. I am not too knowledgeable about how the game works but aren't all the tilesets 2D only. Everything here appears to be fully 3D modeled, even stuff like blocks and pipes and based. Based on where Mario is positioned relative to a block the faces of that are visible change too, which makes me think this isn't just some clever trickery with 2D tilesets. Your progress so far is incredible and am can't wait to see how far this mod advances over time.

I just thought the game looked more interesting than what the NSMB series(at least after the DS and Wii one) since most of them all felt like the exact same boring experience to me in terms of gameplay, plot, music and level design. I remember seeing them but looking back from my childhood they seem to not age well as I remember. Like I said, I never seen NSMB mods like this style before. So this captured my interest.

@@ignatiousmary8413 Oh yeah I agree to that, the same grass, desert and snow etc themes, same story of Bowser kidnapping Peach again and again, no creative or unique characters, I could go on about that era when Mario games were being too safe and bland. Even later Paper Mario games starting from Sticker Star and Mario and Luigi Paper Jam from that era weren’t safe from this sadly. Looking back from when I was a kid seeing this, I’m glad we’re getting past that now and I do hope we never go back to that.

@@sorryshysleeper That is completely true. Even when I played NSMBU, it felt like I was playing NSMBWii again on my Switch. NSMBWii did feel like an upgrade of DS aswell, due to the maps being the same and most of the soundtracks remixed from that game. The first NSMB game I played was NSMB2 then i played DS, then Wii. NSMB2 and NSMBU are the most bland ones since they are just alternative versions of NSMBWii. Even Super Mario Run is just NSMBU on mobile but worse.

Any plans on changing mario a bit? The mod looks beautiful, but regular NSMB Mario on this more stylized world feels kind of out of place, not necessarly a whole new custom model, but changing his textures to fit the world better, maybe a more painterly look?
