This song still crushes me completely. There was a time in my life where I wanted so desperately to be "normal". I didn't want to be disabled. I didn't want to be gay. What I wanted was to not exist. It made me a target, despite nothing ever happening to me intentionally, the world hurt. I felt like an afterthought. Until I delved into theatre. There, no one cared, and I was quite literally somebody else. And still, in theatre and music is where I have my best friends. Stories have so much power, but so few really see that. Thank you for this song.

I can relate to this so much! I’m also gay and disabled, praying to normal was a constant thing especially as I came to the realization I was bisexual. Reading and musicals was my freedom. I’m so glad you found your community!

I saw this in Kansas City and was hoping it would make it to Broadway. The story, songs, and set design is wonderful. My daughter lives in NYC so we will see it together. So glad COVID only delayed it, did not stop it from being shared with a wider audience. You will not be disappointed!

I LOOOOOVE this book! It’s one of those great book to read if you want to get back into reading. The books have some pictures, the “book” part is written in colored print and then you have the story of the two characters. It’s a good one. Worth the read. Trust me.
