I love this because I used to be similar with my group, where I would leave as soon as we got to the parking lot and they would keep talking, so one day I stayed and we ended up stading in the parking lot talking for longer then we watched the movie. The movie finished at 10:45 pm, and by the time we left the parking lot, it was almost 2AM

You dont say goodbye because that assumes you arent seeing them again, and now that the social event is over there is no expectation to stay.
