choose your fighter: helena rubinstein or elizabeth arden? 🤔

Helena Rubinstein, I know she is flawed but she seemed like a better employer than Elizabeth Arden. She also wanted to collaborate with Elizabeth instead of just competing with her and her life story is also quite fascinating.

This video made my day❤️ I am a Skin Care enthusiast and this video was not just enjoyable but also very informative. I have always considered Elizabeth Arden to be the only pioneer of the industry, such a shame I didn’t know about Helena Rubinstein. I would love that video on the rivalry between Clinique and Revlon.

honestly what really makes you thinl of the fact that skincare may be a scam is they way you don't need a prescription to buy most products. think for a moment: if skincare is supposed to take care of your skin, you should always go to a dermatologist to curate a routine for you instead of listening to whatever x influencer is saying. besides, when you're buying whatever you *need* (such as accutane, that actually works and you need a prescription because of how strong it is) you should need said prescription if we understand skincare from a purely functional standpoint. however, it is specified (not on the marketing ofc) that skincare *is* purely cosmetic... except when it's sold to you on your local drugstore. there you definitely need a 10-step routine that will cost you $250

there is definitely confusion deliberately added to the world of skincare so that people overbuy.

@@enfleuri and now i can see why many people avoid going to the doctor: sometimes waitlists take too long or it is unaffordable if you live somewhere with privatized healthcare, so it's more "convenient" to just go to the drugstore or sephora
