Wow, arguably one of the best collector conversations on any channel, every single timepiece was a work of art, elegant, refined, and each one had meaning and sentiment. Craftsmanship and sophistication at its peak. Now, here is a collector who is humble, wise, curious, patient, and understanding. Plus, he strikes me as someone who wants to share his collection of "art" with everyone to enjoy and take pleasure in their beauty. A heartfelt thank you to the both of you for this wonderful video. God bless you and protect you both.

" I do this for myself what brings me joy!" Terrific quote reminds me that my Tissot or Hamilton is as memorable as my Omega or Rolex watches. Outstanding interview Thomas.

Awesome post! I've kept my Hamilton and Oris to give to my son when he is 16. This will be his start into watch collecting. He will get my Omega and Rolex pieces when the time comes.

This might be the best horological content I have watched in 2024; amazing guest, great conversations, beautiful watches with depth, love, and shared awe. Bravo to the entire team, and Mitch has incredible tastes in both watches and fine timepieces! (The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso 101, Havid Nagan HN00 blue dial, TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000, and Roger W. Smith/Daniels Series 2 are my favourite pieces in this vid! Bring him back for round two in further exploring his curated collection!).

Most people don’t notice or care about what we have on our wrists. Realising this should be rule 1 for collectors. Mr Katz is a legend!

Most people don’t even notice you are wearing a watch at all. If they do, they may only know if it’s an Apple Watch or not an Apple Watch.

What a breath of fresh air and so interesting. Hundreds of watch collection videos out there, finally a collector who does it,as he says, for the joy of it. All those collectors coming from the direction of brand obsession and investment value could do worse than look and learn from Mr Katz and buy his book.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mitch for nearly 6 years, and I credit him with being the person who single-handedly inspired my pursuit of independent and lesser known brands. His collection is one of the most diverse and eclectic I have ever seen. His passion and enthusiasm for watchmaking is infectious to say the least. I couldn’t be more happy to see my dear friend, sharing his love for watchmaking with the world.

A true collector! Following your own path and collecting what appeals to you makes the collection - and this discussion - infinitely more interesting than one that has all of the same models that dominate the watch media.

I nicked the case of my newly bought grand seiko on the taxi ride back to the hotel from the ginza boutique. It is also the first watch i ever dropped (3 feet distance landed on the carpet). I am convinced the more we try to baby something the higher chance for accidents to occur😂

That Vacheron Constantin Copernicus, what a beautiful and inspiring watch, just to think that you can actually see and feel your time on earth passing by, some 40 more spins around the sun and your time is up, makes you appreciate your time on earth.

I relate to this collecting philosophy, though his collecting budget is much greater than mine. Gotta have a Speedmaster? Gotta have a Navitimer? Gotta have a Submariner? No thanks to all of those. I chose the rarer Omega Deville Co-axial Chronoscope over any of the Speedmaster models.

Here's the closest I can think of to your criteria, although I'm sure there are others out there: 1) A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Datograph Up/Down 2) Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT Chronograph SBGC003 3) Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Open Power Reserve.

Boys, see what this connoisseur does. Avoids the usual Rolex, Patek, etc. Get something amazing. Like the Credor Fugaku Tourbillon but at half a million dollars, I can never buy it 🙂
@SIMARJEETMEHTA16 сағат бұрын
OMG! The first watch, the JLC with a bridge movement -- is downright inferior to the Corum Bridge. Because with the JLC you have to remove the crown, pull it out, then turn the watch around, then wind it. That's absurd. No such problems with the Corum Bridge at all. You wind it. And since you'd only wear it for an occasion you really don't need to wind it much.

This is just great. Katz has an amazing perspective and voluminous knowledge. The Chrono24 host is seriously unpleasant. His presentation style makes me very uncomfortable. When he speaks, his tone, mannerisms and choice of words don't help him get across his point, which is usually a good one. I'm sorry for him, but he needs to be replaced.
