I set out nervously for this hike, with a horrendous weather forecast making me wonder if I should be going at all. But while it was hard going with such a heavy rucksack in such bad weather, I was very fortunate as the weather cleared as I approached the summit of 872m Moel Siabod, so I had stunning views (while hanging onto the trig point to stop from being blown over haha) and even got my tent up before the hail started up again
I had originally planned to attempt my first ridge by ascending via Daear Ddu, but it would have been too dangerous in this weather, so that’ll wait for another time

The part where you decide to leave the confines of your nice dry comfortable car to climb that mountain in horrendous conditions is incredible to say the least. Given the same situation I can see myself stopping somewhere for a hot chocolate while driving back home.

The only thing that puts me off winter camps are the 15-16 hour nights. Half of that can be slept of course, but that still leaves 8 hours in a tiny tent with nothing much to do except eat & attempt to dry out.

Hi Claire - lovely video. It’s pronounced “Moyle Shabod” - we really appreciate it when visitors make the effort to learn to pronounce our names. Diolch.
@WildBeare
@WildBeare 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, thanks for the pronunciation, I did look up how to pronounce it but I couldn't find it anywhere. I don't know anyone from Wales to ask and I also can't ask on the internet, as for my safety I need to not publicly announce where I'm going to be going on my trips. So often I have to just do my best, as all people do with different languages I guess?
