Not a single person has mentioned that this actress is Barbara Cook, Broadway star best known as Marian the Librarian in the original B-way cast of The Music Man. The first time I saw this episode I found it hard to believe that a woman seen as an American sweetheart icon was playing such a nasty vamp. She's fabulous in this episode. A shame she never had a movie career. But she as it turns out she much preferred singing to acting.

When I first saw this one, about 10 years ago, I thought her name was familiar and was surprised to see she was in the first recording of Bernstein's CANDIDE where she sings spectacularly difficult music very well. Agree she is very good in this horrifying episode.

I saw this episode yesterday; I couldn't really feel any sympathy for the character of Barbie as not only does she cheat on and abandon her boyfriend (stealing his jacket no less), she also does not give anyone a reason to trust her, wanting to experience the shallow bursts of euphoria that her flirting and kissing gives, but not hold up to any commitments or responsibilities.
@annmacleod10992 жыл бұрын
She is confidant and owns the cabin and has money and is having a good time she does say she would see him and give the jacket back to him but at the cabin she gets strangled and does not get the jacket back to him .he gave her the jacket she didn't steel it .
@adamhandley94822 жыл бұрын
@@annmacleod1099 Regardless of that she abandoned him in the middle of nowhere, if she did make it back, he probably would dump her.

Amazing acting by Barbara Cook who happened to be a magnificent singer as well. I didn't even realize that this was Barbara Cook, the popular musical theater Broadway star who I learned about while attending performing arts school in New York City.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Does anybody know what the name of that song is they're playing, at the beginning, when Barbie is gyrating about? Is it something they just made up for tv, or is it a cover of a real song? I heard it on an episode of "Leave it to Beaver" this morning, as well, playing in the background while Wally and Eddie were in the malt shop. It definitely sounds familiar. And once you hear it, it's one of those music scores that's hard to get out of your head!

Having morals, boundaries, and self respect is a lot more attractive. Example being Barbara Cook as Marian in The Music Man. Her in that production is my kind of girl, much better than in this. I wonder if she loathed acting like this in this film.
