Slim, this has to be the most useful video that I have seen on KZbin. The beauty of the idea is that it could be used virtually anywhere. Folks living in vans and rvs, even in a stick house, hunters camps, ice fishing sheds. Unbelievable! Fantastic idea.

Thanks to all for your kind words and inquiries, they mean a lot to me! I wish I had time to answer more questions, but I need to prepare for a trip. Here's a few general notes: 1. I will provide a video as to how I built it. It could be very long and boring, but will try to get it out at the next opportunity 2. I do not (and really cannot) make these for sale. I'll leave that to others 3. I will not release any details of the trailer stove mods until they have been thoroughly tested and proven. Safety first! 4. NO LINKS PLEASE! They get filtered out. Will explain more at a later date. THANKS AGAIN for your encouragement, I am very happy to hear people appreciate my ideas!!! Slim P

Slim Potatohead That is excellent Slim! I just found your channel as I'm looking for a homemade wood stove for my trailer that is now a permanent fixture on my property in central Ontario . It's a summer trailer that I gutted and framed the inside and insulated it and rebuild the inside. I'm definitely going to make an ammo box stove, thank you for uploading this, I'm going to watch the other videos you've made about this stove. I hope you mention what that glass is and where I might find glass like it. Again excellent, I look forward to learning more about this. I Also subscribed and will take a look at your other videos. I don't know your name yet, hope you don't mind me calling you slim :)

My only problem is the ammo box, being carbon steal, it can burn out and rust to dust in the long run, I think. I've seen similar wood stoves , but made out of SST or cast iron. I think, those are more durable. Other wise it's a good idea for those like to thinker and build things, may save a few $$$?

Slim, I've seen several videos on you-tube for "ammo-can" stoves but so far yours was the best I've seen and am going to build one this week for heating a large shop with a loft by Tuff Shed my Wife had built so I could actually get a project or two done. Actually just walked outside to bring it inside to measure it - 17" deep by 10" wide by 18" long - so more than large enough to do the job, and actually have a 10' length of titanium from a Titan II Missile I bought from the DOD several years ago and except for the 'glass door' I think I have everything I need and instead of bothering you for measurements, etc. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to get it to the point where yours is. My only question (so far) is where can I obtain the correct glass and insulation (?) Probably on-line or from a furnace shop? Anyway thanks for sharing your design with us.

Actually it's genius with the hopper and the split burn chamber like a rocket stove. Make it optional to burn sawdust - aka finer particulate matter - in the hopper and you could sell these for up to $300. Reason being long term boondockers could burn compost toilet solids chamber contents. They're already doing that but not with a hopper and in a stove this well designed.

I've been following this wood stove build and test, and I'll give it to you, once you had it dialed in it seemed to be very effective. It was also a very creative design, especially the viewing window. I know a trick that will help your a frame on those REALLY cold nights, it's something I do with my wood stove at home. Find some steel plate and furnace cement (or use a welder if you have one). Cut a plate that will sit directly (in full contact) on top, and make cooling fins (like on a air cooled motorcycle engine) and weld/cement them in place. You can do the same with the sides of the stove too. The much increased radiative surface area works very well, and it you want to cook, you can just remove the fin plates.

You can make your pellet feeder longer with a couple of stainless steel coffee mugs. Just drill out the very bottom of the mugs, then the wood stove should burn all night for you. The longer the pellet feeder is the better maybe. :)

There is a youtuber who had a kimberly wood stove. A great feature of that stove was the burn chamber had no venting to the inside of the van. Instead air from combustion came from outside the van. It would be cool to see an option with combustion air from outside the RV. The multi thousand dollar kimberly btw did not include an oven - what you did is totally cool.
