Thanks, Alec. I’ve just started dabbling with chain saw carving and have my son’s hand-me-down (or up) electric - a must for my neighborhood as well. Not much power for an off brand. So, this was a timely post and I’ve seen a lot of other carvers using Stihl’s. Also, just got your book. WELL DONE! Looking forward to learning as I’m just starting with realistic human faces. Keep up the excellent work!

Howdy from the yoop, Just bought your book cant wait for it to come in the mail :) Been looking for a corded saw tired of charging batteries same problem with neighbors in close proximity havent had too many complaints but can't help but feel like a nuisance some days when i'm blocking out big stuff. Much love keep creating my guy i'll be watchin...in a totally non creep way.

Hey Gary! Good to hear from a yooper. It’s a bit pricey but solves the battery problem!

Is that bar a 1/4 or 3/8 pitch? I went out and got the 1/4 bar not realizing I had the 3/8 sprocket on my saw and it seems pretty hard to come by a 1/4 pitch sprocket for this saw. I'm also having a hard time getting my hands on a 3/8 rollomatic bar, so not sure where to go from here. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Alec, I have the MSE-141 C-Q electric chainsaw ( 269.99$ CAD)by choice in connection with my multiple sclerosis, less powerful than my man's MS-171, indeed, but for the weight, much easier to handle!

Thanks Alec , this was a well timed video, I've only just been weighing up between electric or petrol , I've got some larger projects planned and I've been thinking of investing in a Stihl , I think electric might be the way to go due to noise and i get on well with the neighbours......so far 🤣
