That's standard 2x lumber as they call it here. It's actually 1.5 inches.

I think he means pine. Sorry this is really old, but it looks like high grade 2 x 10 lumber. Any flat 2x construction lumber that isn't crazy with knots will work.

Where do you get the vinyl wood to make the skateboards ?

Skatedecks are generally 7 ply hard maple, each veneer is 1/16" thick. 2 of the plies go crossways, and 5 straight, the nicest ones go out, called "face veneers." You can buy them different places. Try Skate Paige out of Arkansas. Sorry this is kind of old.

1x lumber although more expensive would allow you to get even closer before the sanding because the gap height between each board could theoretically be smaller. Because you are making a bowl/cup shape too not just bent ends for the tail and front

@@AysaLGray This was from DIYSkate, dimensions are not being reported. There are some sites that have a downloadable manual (PDF) that explains every detail of the assembly. Shape drawings are a part of this manual.

@@tinoskateboarding95 This is really old, but you need to chisel and hand plane the concave and then sand it. Sanding is just the last step to make the surface smooth. You could carve it down with an angle grinder and a Kutzall disc, then go to a belt sander with really coarse grit, followed by other sanders. It's totally possible to do it without power tools but you need sharp hand tools, like chisel and block plane, and a wide gouge to get the female concave part. Rasps, sanding blocks made out of wood with coarse paper glued to them, anything. The most important thing is the get the mold halves even spacing. You could also cast a deck you like with plaster as the final layer over a wood base. Hope this makes sense.
