Robby's Electric Violin cuts like a knife. That Bass can knock down walls. Phil Ehart is my favorite Drummer. A machine with sticks.These guys are serious musicians.

Yes, it's me again. I've noticed reactors do "Dust in the Wind" a lot, which I can take or leave. It's an innocuous, soft piece that was amenable to radio play. Whatever. So I'm glad you did this one, but one that a lot of people who've just heard Kansas on the radio don't know about is "Song for America." Penned by classically trained Kerry Livgren, the song is about ten minutes long and has almost that many parts. It's an epic piece of composition comprising a 9/8 time signature. The musicianship required to do that is astounding. It may have been played on progressive-rock stations when I was a kid, but I never heard it. I know about it only because I bought the album (ya know...one of those big, black vinyl thing you play on a turntable). You might appreciate it, being that you pay attention to the music. :)

When this album came out I got the cassette... backed my 55 Ford Panel truck with 300 watts , six speakers up to the beach in Newport Beach O.C.Calif, cranked up this song and had hundreds of people cheering and coming over to say HIGH. Great memories with music.

I saw them live around 1980 and they were every bit as good as on their studio albums! Such a great band!
@ZippyThePinhead Жыл бұрын
Me too. Saw them during the Audiovisions Tour in 81, still goes down as being one of the best concerts I've been to. As a matter of fact just went to see them on their 50th Anniversary Tour 3 or 4 weeks ago. Although Rich Williams is the real only original left, Phil Ehart & Dave Hope did come out & play on a couple songs, but alas Kerry Livgren & Steve Walsh didn't make an appearance, but it was still a great show.

This is one of several great songs that initially grabbed my attention, getting me into Kansas. It's truly an epic Rollercoaster ride. Once it gets started, it really takes off and runs with it. One of the most ominous and wildly Instrumental rock tunes I've ever heard from any band.

@JMBoy TV I know you've seen my comments before, but I truly believe you're one of the best Reaction content person here on KZbin. Mainly, you NEVER interrupt the jam.... that is A++++ in my book. #2, you're introductions are minimalistic and then right on into the tune which is why we're here to begin with... and #3 you're very spot on with your interpretation and comments!!! Man, keep on doing what you're doing and know that I (and obviously others) really appreciate how you're delving into our old foggie music that we grew up with!

Steve Walsh has one of the best male rock voices ever ! So powerful and clear ! This is a great song because Kansas can do no wrong ! But it wouldn't be my 1st choice to Introduce them to someone who's never heard of them !? There's not much vocals in this song and Their vocals and their lyrics are a big part of their sound !

I had JM do "Dust in the Wind" first. All acoustic, Just to trick him....Then he did "Carry On Wayward Son", no violin, Then hit him with the entire band "plugged in" with this masterpiece. The rest can be anything from Kansas, now JM knows what they are capable of. They are in his Playlist.

Thanks Again JM. Reaction Videos… of the quality you create takes time. The total time for the finished product starts with watching a video, that only takes as long as the video is. Then the real time starts to edit/add your comments and graphics with beginning and ending sound. You can actually watch several videos and choice which one to post next. There may be a few you can’t wait to get finished. I know you have seen a few titles worth waiting for. I’m happily Retired with plenty of time to enjoy your excellent reactions to some great music.

JM, I see you and the encyclopedia of classic rock, aka, my dad (Mark Tandle) have crossed paths. When it comes to class rock, when Google doesn’t have the answer, it asks Mark Tandle. I very much agree with him that your reaction videos are very enjoyable to watch. You allow us to listen to the music and then your reactions are on point. Keep enjoying the music, it’s enjoyable to watch.

Kansas is a phenomenal band ! They were always at the top of their game , They have a great catalog , If you're looking for suggestions "Miracles out of nowhere" & " The Wall " You would love" Born on Wings of Steel " but it's a little long you'd have to check that out on your own maybe to see if you needed to shorten it ??? Born on winds of steel will knock your socks off ! Kansas has been on my top 3 list since I was 15 and I'm 61 now and there still on my top 3 !
