Wow! I am different and I enjoy my life. I am Deaf. At schools we had all children together and I loved it. At the Deaf school in the US we have quite a few children with Down Syndrome. They fit in great.

My favorite part of the documentary is the interview with the geneticist from Iceland. Highly intelligent individual with compassion who has developed or helped develop sophisticated technology to interpret DNA of humans and other living creatures. Being a compassionate person like him and seeing the technology you develop used as genocide towards human beings or other living creatures with disabilities/gentic abnormalities must be a difficult reality. So refreshing to hear his voice of honesty, openness and compassion with Sally.

@@Bent666 so the value in life is the tangible? The value in life is what the rulers have created that enslaves most, thinking what we can acquire and attain makes us successful? I would look into the etymology of the word successful. I would most importantly look into the etymology of “word”. Angels are believed in until they have become true. What a weak people you have become! Only valuing what you can attain but rarely taking care of it. No value or virtue is present in this time. Things over people, things over family. Things over others. No wonder you have no clue what emotional intelligence means, spiritually insignificant is where you lie. You have come here for death only.

it’s completely normal to want a neurotypical child while not wanting the complexities of a disability… No issue with disabled people existing and being supported, but you shouldn’t have to eat the risk like preparing for one thing means accepting the other. It is an anomaly and does Infact require extra time and effort from everyone around them that might just be that step too much. I grew up knowing two kids with downs, good guys but their experience was different and there’s no getting around the fact that you’re allowed to not want that. I feel like this was all just a coping mechanism from someone who lives it and doesn’t like that others are avoiding it.

I can see the perspective this documentary has taken, yet I feel it excludes the crucial component of financial burden it may have on families who do not have the means to provide special services that are needed to allow a person w special needs to thrive in this society. I feel that is key when a family decides to terminate/ give birth to a child w ds.

It so disheartening to hear the statistics. There are never any guarantees about raising any child. I often wonder how those people who choose to deprive their own children of a happy life face the inevitable trials and tribulations of raising “typical“ children”.

when you look at all the issues the 'typical children have' from add/ adhd/ odd/ asd mental health and so on its a fallacy. How many 'normal children get chronic health eg diabetes epilepsy and cancer diagnosis etc that requires parents lives to change... managing, to care for their child. Thinking of the lady that terminated her DS child wanting the perfect child.

100% of babies terminated who have Down Syndrome don’t die from Down Syndrome. It’s a sad world. Proud grandma to the most amazing 2 year old we didn’t know we needed.

My friend has DS, plus some other developmental disorders. She is a lot younger than me, I actually used to babysit her. But now that she is older, I consider her my friend. I've never looked at her as a burden. Yeah she has some big issues, and her family has been through a lot with her. But she is a true gift.

Beautiful!!! I too found out through screening. Then through ultrasound was told it could be a false positive. He does have Downs, I am so blessed. God is love! How sad for Europe especially Iceland.

I have seen the worst in skilled nursing, aging single women with An adult (4xs her size) with growing anger aggression and no answers to how to handle them. I have seen parents that force them to skilled nursing on the bases they are crazy because they can no longer handle there aggressive behavior. I have also seen a 60 year old that didn't socialize and now with money and no real care giver or family invested in her go so far out of control that 4 sure she will die if she keeps getting whatever she wants without parents who have controlled her all of her life. Don't get me wrong I do believe all people have value but how can we help these parents when they have hidden the bad parental control device and what will they be after we are gone.

Choice is wrong!! No one has the right to say that another does not have the right to a life. Sally, I admire you so much. I hope you continue to open people’s eyes to the REALITY of living with Down Syndrome. Our society has regressed to a terrible extent. People with Down have the RIGHT to live. No one should be forced to carry a baby to term for any reason. Women are not baby factories existing and operating in a way to make you feel like you have some kind of moral high ground. People like you are the reason a ten year old raped by her own father cannot terminate her pregnancy in my state. You're the reason that frozen embryos are considered actual children and that the destruction of them, intentional or otherwise, can carry a jail sentence. You will be the reason that miscarriages are scrutinized to ensure someone didn't cause the miscarriage. You don't get to make choices for other people. Mind your own damn business and keep your personal feelings about other people's pregnancies to yourself.

These are extremely high functioning cases of DS. Olly specifically is an absolutely rare! The other end of the DS spectrum can be really bad and completely debilitating. The average person with DS can’t speak proficiently, can’t drive, can’t cool (outside of a microwave), and they can’t ever love me their own with a life expectancy of 60 years old, ONLY through medical intervention. Those parents become slaves and imprisoned with their children. The choice to terminate a pregnancy due to DS diagnosis is absolutely ok! Your opinion is absolutely bias and uniquely rare.
