Haha, I want to say it's my midlife crisis car as well, but I'm only 36 and I do hope to live past 70. Every drive I take I think it’s the last on this motor. Datalog says it’s still good ,DAM is 1 , air fuel is 14.7 , feedback is 0.0 to -0.2 -0.4 it’s just the rule of the universe that nothings forever. Your WRX is beast man!

Altek hope everything works out for you! Build wise I’m thinking of mild overbuild so nothing is being stressed with a conservative tune. My occupation demand i be out on the roads in state of emergency so it’s super fun to drive it around in those conditions. The STi sees the worst of winter so it doesn’t need to be anymore than 325WtQ is probably around 365-375crank a little more than the OTS tunes I run on a decent built internal motor stock block nothing fancy just reliable fun.
@Altek1
@Altek1 3 жыл бұрын
I like your plan, overbuild and undertune. Reliable fun is the way to go. I'm pushing my tranny too hard and I'm afraid for the worst, I keep saying to myself "just don't launch it and it will last" but too much power is just too much power. It's awesome that you have a reason to drive in the snow. I normally garage mine if I can during a snow storm, once it's nice and clean, it's hard to justify getting it all salty for 30 minutes of fun. But that is the most fun you can have with snow tires on. Hope it turns out well for you bud.

14 wrx hatch owner here and i've spent wayyyyy more money on this damn car/house of mine. The pain and headache this car gives you is not worth it. BUT, when driving it it all goes away and it's just an awesome car to drive. I've dropped a stage 2 iag short block with other mods and ive maxed out the stock turbo and I want to go bigger. But as well all know, going bigger means more money and more money means buying a new transmission. This investment is definitely a money pit .
@Altek1
@Altek1 2 жыл бұрын
Oh man this comment gave me a proper laugh. You and me are sinking in the same boat buddy. Best worst decision I've ever made, or is it the worst best decision? Either way, it's hard to justify until you're behind the wheel enjoying it and even then you're thinking of what else you'd like to do to it and even though you don't want to, you still do it. Just be careful when touching the turbo. I didn't give the stock one much credit but it really is versatile compared to a larger option. The turbo lag on mine took a while to get used and while I really do like it now, it also took another $3k in upgrades to get me there. It's still nice to know I'm not the only one going through this process. Oh and as my father would say, it's not an investment since you've only lost money in this scenario, but I also tell him it's an investment in my happiness, and that I do believe.

My bugeye wagon only has a stainless muffler, but that was taken off a standard impreza and had a smaller pipe. Also seems like WRX prices are on the rise, if not at least holding. So if you know your car and it's done the way you want it, you won't loose out down the track.

Before my engine initially died, hatches like mine with low mileage were going for low to mid 20's. How stupid of me not to sell at that point, I could have driven the car for 5 years and got most of my money back. Nobody will pay me the proper amount for the work I did, so my best bet is to just enjoy it while I can and see how the value holds up down the line. I'm currently running about 330whp on my 11' hatch, built engine, but still on stock turbo and top mount, near maxing out that VF52 with 19 psi on pure Ethanol (E100, not a single drop of gas). eehh.. I kinda wanted to move to a bigger turbo with a FMIC but the transmission really worries me... considering a 6 speed costs half of the car price on my country, would be a nice financial regret for sure.
@Altek1
@Altek1 3 жыл бұрын
I will say that I definitely underestimated the stock turbo. While it doesn't blow your mind, it does offer a great power curve. The FP Blue took me a bit to get used to but the lag is seriously worse compared to stock. It's a very bursty feeling once it kicks in where the stock had a better gradual feel throughout. Still fun but it took me a while to figure out how to drive it properly. Either way, you're right to be scared about destroying the tranny but so far so good on my side. I'm just very gentle on when i want to bring the power on since I just know I'm asking for trouble. I was quoted $7k for an STI tranny and I'm sorry, but I'd rather have a used Lexus LS400 for that price. Also, I was thinking about ethanol but my bank account told me no 😊
@tomlima7890

@@Altek1 On my case actually my bank account was begging for the ethanol conversion, since 95 oct costs 2.5x as much as ethanol per gallon... (we only have 87 or 95, nothing in between). So the fuel savings can return your injectors/pump investment in a few tanks.. haha.
