i do value notion alot but i think that after playing with the feature for some time you get a hang of it. it is also important to note that notion doesn't offer end to end encryption (because the search feature would be complete disabled) which allows third parties or hackers to access your data easily. I'm not hating on notion or anything (in fact I use it myself pretty much everyday) I just want to make others aware too :))

I tried so hard with digital planning systems like Notion/Google Cal but I always end up spending so much longer fiddling with the settings and setting up each event, etc. than I ever did just writing it down in my bullet journal so I think I'm going to switch back for now but stick to a more minimal system without all the trackers and doodles and stuff that I never really used to begin with

Analog planner teach us to develop our spatial intelligence. We train ourselves to become more efficient and effective using time. Write it once and we remember it unconsciously without the help of reminders. But yeah, everyone has their own limitations m. So use which system that help you the most. Anyway, Bujo is really easy to use nowadays. You need time blocking like Hobonichi? There's sticky notes that you can buy. You need digital reminder for Bujo? Ryder has it in the store for you. Bujo is fun when we stripped it down to barebones. And also in professional field of work, you can't use laptop or tablet when you're meeting with your clients. Using them will make your interactions cold, that's why a notebook and pen is irreplaceable as tools for creating warm and open interactions.
@isabellebarrett13182 жыл бұрын
@@arapaimagold8088 I'm not sure if you meant to put this as a reply to my comment specifically, but actually the idea that analogue systems promote spatial intelligence or memory recall compared to digital methods isn't really backed by the literature in that area. In some cases, studies have even suggested the opposite is true for people who don't have great note‐taking skills because digital systems are often more structured and have built‐in reminder systems. It's a myth perpetuated by educators and not based on the science I'm afraid. Analogue planners can be great for some people and difficult/less useful for others, the same way digital planners can. Unfortunately the same can be applied to your claim about professionalism and client relations, it's just not backed by any meaningful evidence. That said, if you personally find that using an analogue system like bujo/sticky notes/etc. works for you and creates a better dynamic with your clients that's great, and you should absolutely keep using whichever system works best for you! As someone doing a PhD in this area though I can't help but try to correct the misinformation :)

I know what you mean What i did was daily bullet journal with a weekly printable and a monthly pocket calendar (and Google calendar reminders). I can't find the right undated daily planner or I'd use one. Making your own printables is awesome (you can use Google slides). You can add and subtract things from them pretty easily. There are lots of drawbacks and requirements but I literally can't find even a marginally acceptable alternative. I'm autistic and have ADHD. I need a lot of structure and a LOT of room to plan, with very little effort involved most of the time. Since i have hyperfocus i can use it to make the printables, so they're there when i don't have hyperfocus on planning, or any energy at all One of the best things I've figured out is that i can cut in half a sheet of a4 or letter dot grid (like from a Walmart spiral notebook) and use repositionable tape/glue to make it a huge post it So i could probably use a dated weekly planner with a daily dot grid on the notes side, and switch to a new dot grid post it every day I've been making post its out of everything

I take a page or two for a week, anything beyond that is on an old school paper calendar. That weekly page has a top section with my work hours, under that is a "T" form, with 2 columns labelled "Work", and "Life". Everything I need to do is divided between the columns. Underneath that is events -- errands, appointments, meetings, etc. If I need to make notes the facing page is dedicated to that. Even if there's one short note, the page is considered filled and a new page for the next week is set up. This has worked forever -- I don't use online clalendars, they just don't work for me. The bujo was like a full-time job by itself.

I feel like time blocking can be usefull if you really are busy the whole day. But if that is your everyday life than that might not be healthy. You can live like that for a couple of year to make it through college for example, but really, most of your life is not meant to be planned. Do a few tasks every day sure, but don't plan your days from wake to sleep. Leave some time to be spontanious or to just stare into space for a bit. (and I don't mean plan in an hour everyday for "free time". Your whole life is free time, so make it feel like that!)

Notion it's really easy to use once you get used to the features and stuff but as someone that barely uses technology for organizing and likes adding little doodles on the side when writing a list or something (and someone that barely has time to sit down at least 10 minutes to create a bar in this page, etc like you have to do in notion) I'm trying to find this kind of planners that are already "done" or having notion templates printed because it takes 2 minutes to just write down what you need to instead of organizing everything and deciding the photos of this chapter and stuff [notion it's really cool tho, just takes too much time]
