Ah! Thank you for posting this well written show. Double thanks for the 80s commercials that were informative... Not silly, feel good pablum commercials that we have now

This show was on at a time when sitcoms were red-hot. NBC had Cosby Show, Cheers, A Different World, Family Ties, The Golden Girls, etc. People should had been watching this great dramatic series.

26:40 As you can see... This was on NBC with G.Girls and the others..so watching them would not have caused someone to miss this show.

Thanks for the uploads. I haven't seen this since it aired. I just got done with the miniseries, and now this first episode. Was anyone else embarrassed by Joe Gardner actually telling a grieving widow how little he thought of her husband when he was living and how it was bothering him all day? I can't believe a man of that age hasn't learned to keep his mouth shut. He never expressed sympathy to her and the family at the funeral, "Bye" and told his companion about how disinterested he was about him. Then when I saw him show up at the widow's house, I thought he was going to do what he should have done. Instead, he confesses his indifference about her husband? She was very gracious to this bumbling self-interested fool. And what's with one of the daughters divorcing her husband that day in court and then ending up in bed with him that evening?

VonFisch1 Agree about Joe Gardner. I had second hand embarrassment. It was awful when the widow told Joe “you would have liked him”. Also, the guy constantly spying on his babysitter and calling the cops? That was annoying, and not funny.

@@beckigreen It really wasn't a great show after all, was it? It seemed at the time they wanted to convey how real and deep these characters are but what it reveals is that they are very self centered.

Funny to see the commercials! Takes me bak to the 80ies... Though I'm from Germany. I used to watch tv from the UK and saw alot of TV series in english.

Oh my gosh. The intro theme and family football game-this is peak 80s and everything I wanted in my life 😩 Later I wanted Melrose Place and then an Ally Mc Beal life….none of which happened. I’m a poor black woman so it’s been way more like, Living Single, The Wire and Oz. But hey. I’m glad for the memories ❤🎉

Cannot thank you enough for posting these episodes for all to enjoy. I loved this show so much & always wanted to watch it again. Too bad it didn't last longer than 1 season. In the midst of this stressful, crazy election coverage, I have found a bright spot, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Hard to believe such class was on NBC.... I reclal this show vaguely, but it was obviously on a night where my attention was elsewhere or I would have dug it...

Too much class for NBC, so they were forced to cancel it.

Thanks for posting this series! Somehow I missed it back in the day - though I did catch I’ll Fly Away, which I see you’ve also posted - and I’m enjoying it very much some 30 years later. Coincidentally, the station this episode was taped on is WDIV in Detroit - my home town NBC affiliate. Makes it even more special to see the old “Go 4 it!” logo :)

Did not realize you got this from WDIV, in Detroit! Wow. That's where I originally watched it! What a coincidence.
