A year after it was cancelled, I ran into Wendy Phillips at Blockbuster. I was so excited to ask her about David Oliver, I loved him! I'll never forget it. There we were, standing in front of my car in the parking lot, and when I asked about him, she told me had just died. I couldn't believe it. So young, so talented, dead. I started to cry, she started cry. Two total strangers crying together. I still remember that sadness and shock when I found out. Such a great show.

I remember when this show was on TV -- I was sixteen (ha, I wish I still was) -- but I never watched it. I would watch this, the opening credits, my interest definitely piqued, but never one full episode -- just bits of episodes. I wish now that I had since it was an acclaimed show; Maybe I can find it now online. The show's origins started as a mini-series and I think did well in the ratings -- well enough to spawn a series, obviously. But the TV show for some reason didn't match the ratings success of the miniseries. And, of course, I had a crush on Amanda Peterson (who didn't?).

I loved this show. I was in college, at-the-time. I only saw the breakup scene; in the final episode of the miniseries. I watched this show religiously or tried to. I caught bits-and-pieces of it and it was fabulous. I was really mad when it was cancelled. Thirty-three years later, I would rather this on you-tube, than the garbage that passes for TV, these days. I was in love with Wendy Phillips, still am and I really liked Amanda Petersen and SJP.

Absoloutely loved the miniseries, and then the weekly show that follwed. So happy to see from all these comments how many other people appreciated its quality. I still have the series on VHS from rabbit ear tv somewhere at my parents house. I need to dig it up. The miniseries was one of the first things I transfered from VHS to dvd, in all its commercial laden glory.A LOT of talented people on that show. For those David Oliver fans out there, he has a small part in a film called "The Horror Show" and also can be seen briefly in "Night Of The Creeps" as a frat brother. Sarah Jessica Parker mentioned his passing on a talk show once, which I thought was nice. Most of the actors continue to show up in film and tv, but a couple I have not seen since the series.

David Oliver died of AIDS in 1992. Merrick Butrick, who starred with Parker in Square Pegs, died of AIDS in 1989. Square Pegs ran one season and was released on DVD. Hopefully this series will be released on DVD as well. The theme song reminds me of the opening to Room 222.

Loved watching this back in the day. Growing up in Seattle is was awesome seeing a TV show take place here (we didn't get much pub back then) and have characters my age at the time (teens) in the show. Wish it could have stayed on longer. The drama's seemed so much better back then - Hill Street Blues, A Day in the Life. The Bronx Zoo, St. Elsewhere, LA Law.
