Little inklings go on their first turf wars. They make friends, form teams, participate in Splatfest, and fall in love. Then they connect, and birth and raise a new generation of champions.

I enjoyed watching this so much - thank you. Wonderful to see them up close and at ease given how rare it is to see them in this state here in New Zealand.

Baby squid No.1: May the children raise their vooooooiiiiiiiice! ( a big fish sees them and the other young squid glare at their sibling for blowing their cover) What? I was just trying to sell it. Second baby squid: Yeah, but thanks to you we've been exposed.

I just watched a different squid video and they said the lay eggs in the sandy areas? I’m confused
@AuthorPaulGDay5 жыл бұрын
I have seen eggs in rocky areas and under jetties on pylons, but the vast majority of the eggs are attached to reeds. Sometimes they come adrift and float along the sea floor. But I have seen eggs many times and most often on reedy sea beds. I have also witnessed squid breeding ad laying eggs many times mainly on reedy seabeds.

Perhaps I am wrong, but are these not Cuttlefish, not Squid?
@AuthorPaulGDay5 жыл бұрын
They are Southern Calamari Squid
@siyacer3 жыл бұрын
They have relatively large fins as do cuttlefish, however they are squid. You can also tell by their eyes.
