Mine 4.6 has put a smile on my face every day I've owned one. I was recently put off by the Coyote 5.0 when I found out it requires 10 quarts of oil at oil change... 10 quarts... That actually has me looking toward a used 08 ' and up GT500 maybe in the future... 2005 - 2010 gen. Also the oil pan is plastic, as well as the "twist on/off" oil plug... Yes a plastic twist on twist off oil plug...

I've been dreaming of my very own S-197 for quite some time now and for exactly the same aesthetic reasons you mentioned as well as other factors. Mostly for how much they look like a late 60's Stang. I would choose the s-197 over any mustang on the road including the new 2019 Bullet. I really appreciate the great info you shared here and not like I needed much convincing but you've sold me now to 100%. It was a pleasure to here what you had to say thanks for the concise info. I got a 2010 GT.. Its my second Mustang.. I had a 2007 GT a few years ago.. Its not as fast as the newest models but its super nice.. Still pretty quick.. Quick enough to still smoke most cars.. Anything faster and Id probably be dead or in jail... I have to leave my car parked 95% of the time just because of that. Its still fast enough to get in a lot of trouble or get you killed.. Im older now and have a daughter.. And its not that these cars are slow.. Its the fact that the newer muscle cars have hit ridiculous levels of performance... Can you really call them Muscle cars now? They run with super cars now... Dont put your young kids behind the wheels of these newest muscle cars.. Your asking for a lot of heartache... When I was in highschool kids were wiping out bad in Camaros and Mustangs.. Few died and few came real close..

Jacob Webb Non intercooled for now but getting one very soon that way I can increase boost I’m only running probably 6psi. And no waste gate bro, centrifugal superchargers can use a blowoff valve tho... they use the blowoff when the throttle plate closes... the wastegate is used to control boost levels...in the centrifugal superchargers instance the boost is controlled by the pulley size...I’m pretty sure I’m around 6-7 psi running 3.68 pulley I believe it is.

Front clunking is likely caused by bad lower ball joints. Famous issue on these cars, replaced them on my 06 GT at about 50,000 miles. Also, some people have issues with the strut mounts too.
@hcjax12075 жыл бұрын
Anyone know why the ball joints are prone to go bad so soon.? My 2007 has the clunking sound when I hit bumps and practically every used one I’ve driven has it. Is it due to a lack of lubrication?

I love the red leather interior as well. I have a redfire red 2007 Mustang GT Premium and the slight metal flake in the paint along with my red and black interior is way cool. I agree on the high engagement point on the clutch as being a negative. So much so that I had a stage 2 clutch, with the usual, lower clutch engagement. My mustang has 40,000 miles on it and has the Air Raid CAI with high octane tune. This CAI makes a huge difference in the throttle response, sound and a 10% gain in engine hp. I added Borla Stinger axle backs and the MMD rear quarter window louvers. I just put a set of the B.F. Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 UHP tires on it and am loving these tires. I stayed with the 235 55 18 inch tires on my polished aluminum Bullitt syle wheels. I replaced the stock tail light assembly with the Radion red diffusor tail light lens. They are LED and display the sequencial lighting when activated. My next mod will be a coil over suspension with the upgraded strut mounts and adjustable pan hard bar. Its become a real driver and is a head turner at the show and shines. Its a garage queen in the winter . I belong to a local customs and classics car club and we run a gambit of Shows, cruises and displays. I live about 1 1/2 hours from Sturgis, South Dakota so I also attend the yearly Mustang rally there. I'm loving my car!

And I have a buddy with an 07 GT premium 5 speed manual 175k miles and the car still runs like new and it's only ever had minimal repairs (new radiator, slave cylinder) that's it. Everything else was basic maintenance and the car runs better than ever. It might even go another 100k miles honestly. As long as the car is driven with respect and taken care of they are very solid cars. Respect the ride people.

Really enjoyed this, and your personality came out quite a bit. Gave me a laugh ha. I agree about the paint chipping, my 06 gets so bad when I go on a road trip. Small rocks or chips can do a lot of damage. On the cup holders, good heavens. Why would you make a car that has four seats and only 2 holders? Not to mention the awkward placement of the holders. *knocks a cup over when trying reach for something in the backseat* or maybe that's just something that I struggle with 😂😜.

When I was your age I bought a 1966 Pontiac GTO (Royal Bobcat). In ‘06 I bought a beautiful S-197 Gun-Metal Grey Convertible. It was a “Dealer Demo” w/. 2,000 miles on it. I have never had a problem. Missing Shift is not a usual problem. Buy a pair of Driving Gloves. I love my GT. I bought a radar set. I’m 6’6” nobody rides in my back seat. You haven’t mentioned the ‘step’ you can rest your foot on. I put American Racing Mags and Goodyear’s Eagles. It’s the exact “King of the Road” Staggering. Ventilated Discs and Bembro Calipers. I drive mine on Hyw 1 south of San Francisco. When I changed the seats and put in the Roll-Bar and Five Point restraints on my seat , but that goes back to my Dads MG-B . I just did four points on the Passenger Seat. Did you put a “ Strut Tower Brace” in ? If you have arms like I do you can shift easily if you get the seat all the way (extra two inches) back and down. ‘fake hood scoops’ only induced drag. And a “Mustang GT” can be set-up so you can embarrass a Corvette. A company like American Muscle has enough after market stuff that you really can make a desirable handling set-up. It all comes with decades of knowledge behind the wheel. I feel in love with The S-197 from the gate. About the only thing I haven’t done is radicalizing the exhaust. CHP loves to dick with modified exhausts. Anyway I love my Convertible, Ford really got that right. The total lack of road noise make cross country trips a pleasure when I have a girlfriend in the car. I have a “Shaker 1000” out of a wrecked ‘04. And the 5 disc changer has some great features. Anyway, enjoy.

I used at have a 2006 Mustang GT and I loved it. But I fucked mine up and I had to get rid of it. Make sure you change the transmission fluid, especially if you drive it hard. I had almost 90k miles on the car before changing it. It started slipping really bad and after I flushed the fluid, the overdrive gear wouldn't work every few days or so; and it would take around 10 seconds for it to violently jerk into reverse. I loved the car but I didn't want to pay for a new transmission on a 9 year old car at the time.

Ooh - that's good to know. I'll probably do that within the next few months. I definitely drive the car pretty hard and pack the miles on, so it's gotta be done and the transmission is starting to let me know about it. I hate that you had to let yours go, though! They're an absolute blast.

For whatever reason, the late 90s to mid 2000s, Ford has not had the best luck with paint that doesn't have metal flake in it. I don't know if it's the paint manufacturer that is the issue or how they apply it. GM has the same problem with their clearcoat peeling on their non-metallic colors. Until you repaint it, put in a garage or enclosed building that is dust free. Get painter's blue masking tape, and tape the top up part just of the rear where it rolls down to the back glass. Go to your local automotive paint supplier and get the correct paint in a spray. You can paint that area and it will last for a while. Be sure to sand and prime the area before painting. Once it dries for about 2 weeks, use 3M Rubbing Compound, 03900, with a clean waxing pad and some soft microfiber cloths to buff the paint out. Don't use an electric buffer, because on a body seam like that, the paint will be more likely to burn. It may take two or three times, but you should be able to get the paint to match up pretty well. You can do the same thing with your front bumper as well, I would talk to your local automotive paint supplier and go with and undercarriage type paint for that. Those paints are rubberized and will hold up better to road hazards.

The centered fog lights could work well with the look of you car. Also the smaller lighst with the classic pony retro grill also work. You car needs a chin and bigger wheels (not rims, wheels). Honestly I think your review video is part of the reason I got it. The only issue I'm having is that the rear defroster doesn't seem to work.

I would say yes, it is. But just understand that it can be quite a handful at times, and it would be very easy to lose control in certain weather.

Not sure if you were aware or not, there's an insert in that rear cup holder you can take out to make the cup holder much much deeper. It really helps shifting. Also, Get yourself one of these... www.amazon.com/Gentex-GENK20A-Dimming-compass-Temperature/dp/B0083AEVYA
@ReidG_RN8 жыл бұрын
I am aware of it, but it still doesn't make the shifting all that much easier to me. Just poor design overall, but not a huge deal. And THANK YOU! I will most definitely be getting one of those as soon as I can afford it.

I live in Minnesota. Don't you dare talk about Texas being more "humid" than Northern states. Minnesota is the worst places I've ever been for weather. I lived in Austin Texas and never even had to put on pants, just shorts year round.
@Leogoth686 ай бұрын
I've been living in Texas for the last 15 years. I spent the first 40 years of my life in Minnesota. The winters in Texas are humid like the man said. Minnesota winters are dry because of the extreme cold sucks the moisture out of the air. Summer time is a whole other thing it's a good thing Minnesota has it's 10k lakes to swim in!

The ''Staggered''' wheel set-up give you a nice shift in weight forward. You also need a ''Panhard Bar'' to center the rear axle. If you noticed ''There is no "Ashtray" in your Mustang. Anyone who has s drink in my car ... control their drink. And smoking is a no no. I'm California Driver born and breed. I love red leather. The ''Motorcycle Club" that I am a member of has ''red &white". I drive with red ''Simpsons'' or black depends on my mode. Their leather high tops. Stock Car drivers wear them very comfortable on long rides. Sounds like your progress is ... happening. Get a Strut Tower Brace. Talk to you later. So they hate you. If your looking at them in the rear view mirror , so. Time to change the seats ... four point seat belts( five points if your serious) . Ford has a set of red and black that look really boss.
