a year without ioi

It has already been over a year since one of my favorite girl groups disbanded. 😞 Although it was sad to see them all go, they are all doing pretty well for themselves. Each member has promoted in some type of way, which is really good. They really did benefit from the popularity they gained from Produce 101. They have accomplished so much in just a year, and we still have many more to go! Let’s keep supporting our girls forever!! ❤️❤️❤️

Got into kpop after they disbanded and I remember reading a lot of comments saying how upset people were about ioi disbanding, so I told myself I wouldn’t invest in them since they were disbanded anyway (plus the fact everyone seemed so hurt that they disbanded so I didn’t want to feel the same way LOL). But one day I decided to binge all their m/v’s, live performances, variety show appearances, reality show, etc. and damn, it was 100% worth it but I got hella sad knowing that there wouldn’t be anything new to look forward to, besides following all their individual paths. I basically became a fan even tho they were already disbanded when I heard about them, which says a lot about them tbh. I miss ioi but I’m glad everyone is doing well with where their career took them. IOI FIGHTING.

In Produce 101, yes. I don't know about other survival shows though. I.O.I promoted about less than a year. WANNA-ONE promotes for a year and a half. Produce 101 only helps the trainees' careers to go further. Produce 101 is only a stepping stone. I don't know about MixNine, The Unit, Boys24 and more.

They were a project group but you could see how much they liked each other and how they got along really well, thing that sometimes isn't present at permanent groups. As much as I like Wanna One. I always got upset that IOI didn’t get an extension on their contract too. Just because Wanna One got a “better response” they got an extension. At the time IOI hit it big with Very Very Very, Twice hit it big with TT and Cheer Up. But as much as I’m upset about not having an extension, I knew the companies had everything plan for when IOI disband. Yeunjung was to join WJSN (a girl group in Starship). Jellyfish company created Gugudan which Mina and Sejong would be in. Fantagio planed for Doyeon and Youjung to be in Weki Meki with other Fantagio trainees. Pledis created Pristin which Kyulkyung and Nayoung and the other Pledis girl trainees. Chaeyeon was to return back to DIA. Chungha debut as a solo and to be honest I think that it was one of the best decision (for her to go solo because she has everything vocal, dance, Visual). Red Fox had Sohye debut as a actress this time as she is from an acting company. Somi was the only one who didn’t have anything planned for her. JYP didn’t do anything with her but just let her join projects like Unnies and Girl Next Door. So maybe it was planned they wouldn’t extend a contract because of all this. But it still gets me upset I can’t see these girl as often all together since they’re all busy doing their own things.

Although I do miss seeing these girls together as a group, I actually love the music from some of the girls' own groups even more. For example, Pristin and WJSN both released some of my all-time favorite K-Pop songs in the last couple of years, and I actually love those songs more than any of the of I.O.I songs. But in terms of personality of a group, I.O.I was truly magical--maybe because watching how they formed from Produce 101 made the whole experience a lot more intimate.
