Our today’s interviewee:
Andrzej Mularczyk (born in 1930 in Warsaw), a writer, screenwriter and author of radio plays. During World War II he lived in Konstancin-Jeziorna, in the "Boryczówka" estate, which was named after his father's home village. The house was a gathering place of the Warsaw poetic elite writing for the underground magazines "Sztuka i Naród" [Art and Nation] and "Dźwigary" [The Girders]. All the poets were also members of the Home Army active in the underground resistance. 13-year-old Andrzej Mularczyk was fascinated by the atmosphere of their meetings. A Home Army radio station was also set up in the "Boryczówka" estate. After some time, the Germans discovered the operation and arrested two Home Army soldiers who managed it, and shot them two weeks later. Fortunately for the Mularczyk family, the radio station itself wasn't found and at night Andrzej Mularczyk moved the equipment to a safe place. Among the people who attended the clandestine meetings in "Boryczówka" was Andrzej's colleague Grzegorz, who worked for the Security Office after the war, and who shot and killed his fiancée during an argument.
One day Andrzej Mularczyk witnessed the following event: a German soldier shot a young Jew and told Andrzej to bury him. While digging the pit, Mularczyk watched ants going around the pool of blood. This inspired him to write a short story which became his literary debut, published in the "Dźwigary" magazine.
One month prior to the Warsaw Uprising, representatives of the "Sztuka i Naród" and "Dźwigary" magazines came to Zgorzała near Piaseczno to play a football match. Andrzej Mularczyk, whose short story had already been published at that point, played in the match as a goalkeeper (after the war he was a goalkeeper for RKS Mirków). For many of the players it was the last football match in their lives, as shortly afterwards they died in the Warsaw Uprising.

Przykre... A mamy XXI wiek...
