honestly its feels weird to hear people praise xiao's apology bc to me its so fucking bizarre that he even had to apologize for anything in the first place. its not even that "he did nothing wrong", no, he literally just did NOTHING. not a single action of his had anything to do with this whole situation. its insane how in the end he had to take some sort of accountability for other people's actions and apologize in their name.

51:25 its really crazy ironic because thats what the untamed show was about. Its about an entire society finding someone to be mad at. A whole scapegoat. The poor dude had to live the drama he acted in real life. Just adding that The untamed is such a great chinese show. I remember in 2019 Armys went crazy over the untamed on twitter and i went ahead and watched it. The story was so good and like a whole new world to me. Its also like extremely rewatchable because of the writing and structure of the story. As a kind of new xiao zhan fan myself... i watched tons of his shows and interviews... The apology to me felt very sincere. The man is a very serious actor and just wise and seems to have a high emotional quotient. He seems to have a lot of empathy from the way he speaks.

it's confounding to me that so many people take fanfiction this seriously... i can't even begin to list all the weird sh*t i've seen on ao3 about all sorts of celebrities, bts fanfics alone get incredibly crazy. some of the best pieces of literature that i've ever read are also on there, but most things on the website, like any fanfic websites, are exactly these unhinged gay smoosh stories, and they often deal with taboo topics and even illegal activities, so what... it's fiction! also i'm kinda surprised that in china a story liike this became public, in my country ao3 was quietly banned over some old harry potter fanfic that allegedly featured a minor engaging in a relationship with an adult, but it was really just because of the ban on homosexual relationships... this is all very sad actually. p.s. the untamed is a great show, highly recommend, i'm also a fan of the mzds novel.
@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas90727 ай бұрын
How can you say that when that’s actually true? Even if not in that story there are tons of child with adult romance stories on that site! It may infuriate people but I’m not gonna die on the bill for its return if a country decides to ban it. Also what is MZDS?
@farawaykin7 ай бұрын
@@mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072 i agree that child x adult stuff is completely wrong and a fanfic with those themes may harm someone who reads it. but it’s been proven countless times in the history of the world that censorship is not the answer in most cases… and also it’s important to understand what countries do these things and for what reasons. in my country it was by no means done to actually protect anyone, it was just a mindless homophobic act because our government is absolutely crazy and disgusting and doesn’t cares about people, so i wasn’t surprised or affected by this at all, it’s like the least harm it’s ever done to me i think lol… same with china, where children are sexualized like crazy and the entire internet is only usable after a ton of hard work to bypass the blockings. idk if your question was meant to troll me for confusing the letters in the abbreviation or you were genuinely asking hahaha anyway, it’s mdzs of course, which is the novel that’s mentioned in the video

The only good part of this story is that Xiao Zhan has come back and is exponentially more popular than he even was before this all happened. Also the criticism of his initial statement - he could not have really commented any more on it. If he had specifically acknowledged either side, the government could have come down on him for going against the state. He can't say anything remotely in support of people who criticize government censorship, so he can't acknowledge the origin of the conflict, or AO3, or the marginalized communities that it affected, because then people could accuse him of supporting those communities. Outside of China, that would be great if he had publicly supported those communities, but he would have made everything worse for himself within China if he had commented specifically on either side. He would have cemented his downfall, because the chinese public and government (both of which have ended careers of many celebrities for what americans would see as extremely minor infractions) could have found an actual reason to end him. Even the second statement is very carefully crafted to speak only to the fan-idol relationship side of things, rather than acknowledging the actual origin of the controversy, which was BL, AO3, and the internet war over government censorship. I really don't think he should have had to make a statement, because 100% of this happened without him being involved, and in the end none of it was really about him. It was first about government censorship of creative freedom, and then in was about toxic fan culture. It is wild to me that people would expect him to repeatedly apologize in that way.

honestly in untamed they werent shown as a "brotherhood". i watched it without knowing it was popular or a bl because it just popped up on my netflix and the plot as a whole was GREAT but the relationship between the leads was so clearly romantic i dont know how anyone would perceive it as anything but. xioazhan and yibo did an incredible job along with the makers of the show to portray a really subtle but beautiful love story. i didnt follow the scandal but it really sucks coz the two actors seemed to genuinely be very good friends. i hope they were able to maintain a friendship off camera. and i need their shippers to STOP coz even last year i saw someone post a pic of their shippers at one of their individual events its so frustrating. i have no issue with casual shipping but the way people obsessively ship the leads of bls is so gross

There are no words to describe how good this show actually was. I’ve only watched a few c-dramas before, and never one with this many episodes (the Untamed has 50 episodes) so when I heard about it, I thought I would drop it by episode 2. But surprisingly, I was HOOKED. I’m not one for long shows or fantasy shows but The Untamed is one of the best dramas I have ever watched, hands down. The first few episodes were confusing because they portray the main character in the present being sort of “reborn” and everyone hates him for some reason. By episode 3-4, they bring us back to the past and how he even got to this point and the story is just TOO good! I 100% recommend 👍

As someone who is a huge fan of sites like a03 and creative writing, I also do not like involving real people as if they're fictional characters. It's the fact that they're using their likeness and name in some crazy explicit content at times and we have no idea how that person actually feels about that. Also the fact that it's usually their friends and coworkers in the industry who are being depicted with them? They have to continue to look them in the face if they do read these stories, ( and they really do especially the ones that blow up.) There was an incident with an NHL player who was written about who came out later with his wife to ask ppl to stop because it made him uncomfortable. The fan fic of him and his team mates blew up, their team used the attention as promotion at 1st, but he wasn't okay with people cat calling him and se*ualizing him in that way, he has a wife and kids. People attacked him and his wife for not being okay with it because "its just fiction." But it's not, it's his name and likeness, and is affecting him and his real life. Nevermind in places like China or south Korea where gay relationships are heavily looked down upon, it can be difficult for them to know they're being depicted in that way, either b'cuz they are and don't want to be outed, or b'cuz they aren't and that makes them uncomfortable. It's one thing if they personally don't have a problem with it, but when in a film like this, or a group like kpop, where it can be promotional and your just being comfortable with your friend, it's not always easy to express any distaste. Ik I wldnt be okay with some of the content people write and being portrayed in an overly se*ualized manner, especially if it involved friends of mine, or people I'm close to in a platonic sense. Ofc not all fan fics are bad, even erotic fan fics can be amazingly written, with a great plot and storyline. But then there's being explicit for the sake of it as an outlet for your own feelings and using people to express that. Having these thoughts isn't bad necessarily,( excluding p3d0phelia etc,) but it would be better to change the name and description of that person if you are going to use their likeness to lend some separation. It's just unfortunate how far this was taken, this has been a topic of discussion for a long while and it shouldn't have been blown so out of control. The actors have nothing to do with their fans.

If you want to watch shows where people fly around on swords there are several fantasy/ mythological C-dramas that have that. It's also in the drama The Untamed and the manhua Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi. I highly recommend watching the drama. Don't worry there's no explicit scenes. It was made to pass China's rules for public viewing so nothing that's undeniably BL is in the show.

There are quite a few poignant points about this story that hasn’t been told, but quite fascinating. Here’s one. So we know that Xiao Zhan did not know that his fans would show up at the awards show to give him the Red Sea. He had disbanded his official fan club back in May of 2020. But what was more precious about the Red Sea was that the fans did not know that Xiao Zhan would show up at the awards show. Every other celebrity was announced to attend that night, but Xiao Zhan was not announced before the show nor was he introduced when he showed up on stage. The Red Sea was not planned. None of the fans knew other fans were coming in support. All tickets purchased were individual and not in bulk. The Red Sea lit up in 8 seconds for Xiao Zhan and could be seen from outside the stadium.

@@brianna058well, she obviously hasn't seen the drama or read the original novel. Especially the part where she boils down MDZS to a basically mostly trope-y romance novel when I'd say less than a third of the plot is about the romance and the explicitly romantic parts of the novel (while it is probably one of the greatest love stories ever imo) can be boiled down to somewhere under 20 chapters in a basically 200 chapter novel. The main story in my opinion is the character journey of Wei Wuxian from being one of the most promising disciples on the righteous path, to having to abandon that path due to morals and self sacrifice and becoming so misunderstood everyone thinks he's the biggest villain, to his death being celebrated by basically the whole world, and then his rebirth and finally finding peace at the end. It is the novel that's in my top three in terms of how much I've cried while reading (and watching) something, as well as being amazingly witty with its writing and incredible characters. The fantasy detective arcs are amazing and I have to skip most of one specific arc every time I rewatch/reread because it is one of the most devastating stories I've ever consumed. And while the drama is censored, it's still obviously a love story. There is so much symbolism and Xiao Zhan and (especially) Wang Yibo acted their characters pretty true to the original material. If you look at your brother like WWX and LWJ look at each other, you have some figuring out to do. ....... Sorry for the essay.

If u dont know Wang sitpng and want to know who he is (They often mention him in their China verse and etc. ) I can recommend her 2 videos about him, which will make you understand her jokes better, lmao The first video you should see of her by him would be, "Every time he breaks up with a gf, he gives them $ 1m - the unreal life of Wang Sicong." Which will give you a better understanding of who he is. And then after you could watch her other video, which name is "The Chinese Billionaire Playboy with his 20+ influencer GFs" and this one would give you an explanation and lovelife of wang sitong, and its hilarious, and in both videos their is going to be another guy who is beside stephanie and he is her cousin his name is dandan. and in the second video, ("The Chinese Billionaire Playboy with his 20+ influencer GFs") thier would be another girls voice in the background and her name is tiffany and she is stephanie's fiances sister so basically her sister in-law. btw i hope you could get a better understanding after reading this and if you got more confussed then sorry english is not my first language and please watch her videos in the way i told bc its easier to understand every thing about wang sitong if u first get to know who he is and then get a good laugh out of it with her second video First, "Every time he breaks up with a gf, he gives them $ 1m - the unreal life of Wang Sicong."and then after "The Chinese Billionaire Playboy with his 20+ influencer GFs" hope you see my comment and thx for reacting ro her your reactions r so hilarious. Sometimes, have a good day. I love u, b❤️ [If u have any questions about what I wrote, just comment, stand, I would answer asap]

Asia really don’t play about boycotts because I remember how organised the boycott for Loona was to get them free and it worked in the end

Is this video dlted from Stephanie's chnnl? 👀
@noodles.dumplings.kimchi28782 ай бұрын
@@rapperthv I don’t think so?? Also the other videos I’m talking about is the videos of Wang Si Cong since he pops up in almost all the chinaverse videos she covers. He’s basically a running joke.

48:27 ppl r so jobless i swear bruh they can't boycott when ppl r being actively killed by the brands they buy from but they can boycott a random person that had no actual hand in damaging their community.. and imagine if xiao zhan was actually queer ? like what you just ruined bros life for just living. like I get it I really do , if ao3 got shut down bc someone called taylor swift a lesbian and it was the only place I could see queer media i'd be mad asf but at a certain point u gotta realize that you're killing your own braincells instead of finding a solution

Personally, I don’t think fanfics should involve real life people and those who write about the actual actor rather than the character they’re playing needs to seek help. Literally feel my soul crumble a bit every time I see people write about bts, youtubers, and actors 🤢 Also the untamed is definitely more ‘romantic’ than the source material (novel) which is not about the love but about the plot which is a redemption story. It’s seriously so good, I’d personally recommend the novel and animation if you want the main plot.

Every week Loui brings out something that makes all my universes collide again…this week: fanfics and AO3 …..to be honest, there is some amazing fanfics writers out there and not all of it is unhinged. But I’ve only read BTS related fics…i stay away from the weird and unhinged stories🧍♀️💜
