Thoroughly enjoyed the video, Keith: A few of us, from Bodmin Camera Club, spent a couple of days enthralled by Tornado's presence. we shot stills (and a bit of video) from Dreason bridge, trackside at Dreason, Walker Lines bridge & the bridge down by the Crematorium - Magic - Your footage will continue to bring it all back for years to come.

Peter, thank you for your kind comments. Are any of your photos, or others from the camera club, on the internet? I'd be interested to see. Keith.

hemerdonbank I've put 4 on the group 'Uk through the lens' Keith - Search 'Tornado Bodmin' & they show up. Don't know if anyone else posted any, as I'm no longer an active club-member; just bumped into a few over the 5/6 days

A brilliant upload Keith, what would they have done without 4612 giving help....Funny enough I was looking at a photograph of 4612 after withdrawal from Cardiff East Dock shed in 1965 yesterday....and she's still doing sterling work...Best wishes...Bob

Many thanks, Bob. You right that 4612 was needed, particularly around the first curves from Bodmin Parkway. After that Tornado got into her stride. Keith

I am SPEECHLESS I do not know what to say this is... no I can't find the right word 3-cylinder engines banked by two-cylinder ones? the majestic "Tornado" contrasting with the down-to-earth no-nonsense pannier on the back? the magnificent scenery for which the Fowey valley is famed? I am BOWLED OVER THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS THIS SHOULD BE SHOWN IN THE ALBERT HALL!

David, you're very kind, thank you. It was an unusual sight, seeing an LNER pacific on a rural branch line. Let's hope the B&W has more guest visits like this, ably backed by a GWR panner! Keith.

hearing that wheelslip at 4:46 on dear .. :( is this a very steep railway as the pannier was on the back the whole time?
@hemerdonbank5 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a very steep climb from Bodmin Parkway to General. Not surprised there was the odd slip for a big pacific especially with the amount of foliage around.

Would someone tell us how it got there. The B&W has no link with the main line and Bodmin has no craning fascilities.4612 seems to doing all the work.
@hemerdonbank6 жыл бұрын
Dave Day Hi Dave. The B&W does have a main line connection and was used by Tornado. There is probably information on the B&W Railway website about it. 4612 was certainly doing some work and makes a lot of noise compared to Tornado. That doesn’t mean Tornado wasn’t doing any work but I suspect she was being driven carefully to avoid slipping on the inclines and potential damage. Keith
@daveday55076 жыл бұрын
@@hemerdonbank That connection is well hidden. The B&W has a buffer stop at platform 3 of Bodmin Parkway and the line dorsn't appear to continue beyond it. I suspect that the connection is somewhee behind the exchange sidings. The website doesn't help. I grew up in Bodmin during WW2 and have fond memories of the station as it was pre-Beeching.

@@hemerdonbank Found it. The connection is behind the train shed you can see it here at 18.00: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anSkaoRojZ6Ad6c
