There's a mistake in the video. f(8) = -4 So in vertex form it should be minus 4 at the end instead of plus 4. And the vertex is (8, -4) Everything else and all the explanations are still right.

For those confused about 4 or -4 in f(8) = (8 - 10) (8 - 6)... yes, he corrected it (should be minus 4) down in the comments. This way hopefully, you don't have to scoll down too far! :) Great job... and thank you!

when you do f(8) and simplify, how is -2•2 positive 4? Shouldn’t it be -4? Also thank you, this helps me out a lot.
@humzaKun4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's supposed to be -4. I put the factored form into desmos and it was translated down 4. so the Vertex form for that equation is y = (x - 8)^2 -4
@rademakermath27484 жыл бұрын
yes it should've said -4. I'll put a screen up at that moment

@@rademakermath2748 what happens if your h ends up as 0? Do you write it as x - 0 or x + 0? And also, what happens if your a is 0? Is there a specific way to write it or do you just write 0?
@rademakermath27483 жыл бұрын
@@exmachina8475 if h is zero and you want to keep it in the vertex form style then you would do (x - 0) or just x. 'a' can't be zero. If it is, it won't be a quadratic anymore You might mean "what if 'a' doesn't have a value written?". If there is no number where 'a' usually is, that means a = 1.

So, does that mean that the vertex for y=-2(x+6)^2+288 would be (-6, -288)? Also when writing the vertex for any question, do you change the signs for both the numbers cuz in some of your videos I watched, you only changed one of the numbers signs.
@rademakermath2748 Жыл бұрын
It would be (-6, 288). Only the x value of the vertex gets flipped in the equation.

The part where u calculate the Aos..will have to be always add then divide it to 2?

Yes. Because the Axis of Symmetry will always be halfway between the x-intercepts.

f(x) is the output when x is inputted. So yes, f(x) is the same as y.

How did you get 288?
@rademakermath2748 Жыл бұрын
Since the axis of symmetry is -6, that is also the x-coordinate of the vertex, so you need to plug that back into the original equation for x to find the y-coordinate of the vertex.
