Nice job on your first video! This is exactly what I was looking for. I just picked up a 2011 13" Macbook Air out of the e-waste and it has ram issues. I was planning to try reflowing the solder on the ram, and getting to see you do it helps a lot. Thanks, my good fellow!

I just reflowed the solder a little bit ago and it worked flawlessly! I used too much flux though so most of my time was spent cleaning that up afterwards 😅 Thanks again!

got the same unit. so how long did it last the reflow? I heard that it's not a permanent fix.
@yukitakahashi57395 ай бұрын
@@deluxyest5888 It actually only lasted a few months, I think. It started having I think RAM issues again (crashing, garbled artifacts on the screen). I tried reflowing it again just to see if it would fix it again, but that finally killed it...

so 1 year is the estimate on your usage after reflowing? thinking of doing this to my unit...
@deluxyest58884 ай бұрын
@@jensenluwenta depends. mine took a week only and it needed reflow again. it's only good for getting the important files. I bought a motherboard replacement after.

Great content , set insightful , i suddenly got the 3 beeps on my MacBook won’t power up , I also noticed when I plug in my charger no light comes on the charger it self ? Do you think this could be something else other then the ram modules ? I have power to cable but no light when connected to Mac , thank you

For how much long did you heat it and at what temp settings. Thanks

Why did you try to turn it on after taking out the SSD? Could the SSD also be at fault for those beeps?

after normal rehot-reflow, it only lasts 15 minutes. restart the beep 3x and the ic ram feels hot (ic near proc). Please inform for solution. Fyi. Macbook air 2009 - 13 inch.

How did you avoid sending those small SMD components flying near the RAM? I always run into that problem with hot air re-working.

I find the surface tension is quite strong with already soldered components and as long as you use the appropriate nozzle size and airflow speed the chance of blowing away already soldered components is next to 0. Here I was using a big tip, i think 12mm, if I was using a small tip with max air speed there is a chance of blowing the smallest components away.
