I think AI will not replace designer, rather augment it. AI in design is better seen as a complementary tool rather than a replacement for human designers. Similar to other tools used in the design process, AI can enhance the abilities of designers by performing tasks quickly and efficiently, allowing designers more time to focus on creative and strategic thinking. For instance, AI can expedite the process of creating numerous design variants, and performing tedious tasks. Can't wait to see the future!

0:40 he asks Dylan if AI will take the job of the designer in the future. Dylan looks down and his smile disappears. I don't think he's allowed to say the truth. But yeah, the real answer is "Definitely". We ain't that far from this happening. Also, UIs of the future will be auto generated and modular in nature. The current paradigm we're in regarding desktop and mobile applications being static designs is on the chopping block. It's analogous to 20 kids in a classroom being taught the same damn thing in the same damn way. That doesn't conform to the reality of how humans really work. Figma's days (any design tool's days) are ultra numbered. But it's all very ok ;) I suppose I'm thinking a bit more long term than Dylan and most are.

Agree that AI can contribute to interesting quick UIs that are personalized. But i agree with Dylan that still a role for designers who abstract on top of those decisions. Gating factor for custom UIs is: can the human understand it? Or: can the AI complete the UI, or can the person’s AI take the custom UI and make it even more custom for the person?
