Interesting video overall, but just mentioning the Tech Crunch article "The Majority of U.S. consumers still download zero apps a month" and using that to justify super apps being the future, was INCREDIBLY misleading! I read the article, and found that the "Majority" was just 51% and consisted of predominantly people 35+. The other 49% were downloading quite a few more apps!! I don't see any signs of super apps becoming as big in western countries as soon as she is predicting. Both the Apple and Android developer communities are still seeing large revenue growth even these last couple years.
@facundomiranda3391
@facundomiranda3391 4 жыл бұрын
There are millions of new apps every year.... It would be nice to see how those downloads are distributed and what is the "retention". Superapps tend to have a huge retention and take advantage of the powerful distribution of the app to create new business and bring new revenue streams.

OMG which is the app she was talking about, with podcasts, I need to blacklist it. This is really really sneaky. I hope people realise what's going on... We have to make something for ourselves. I'm chewing on this idea currently. Big tech isn't interested in people beyond the products we can buy. We have to imagine the interaction we want and make it happen. I'm currently looking fort programmers and want to share ideas and collaborate with others. I'm tired of being treated like a consumer 24/7.

So in China does opting out of this technology negatively impact your social credit rating? If you don’t want to do or think what emperor Xi wants to do or think, can this help the police apprehend you or weld you in your home if they think you shouldn’t be spreading a new virus? Living in Hong Kong and traveling often to China (until lately) I can see some super app downsides. Can it assist an authoritarian regime and suppress or help eliminate anyone the party finds undesirable or capable of introducing an open minded opinion? My guess: Absolutely without a doubt. So in China: Sold!

The after-school education sector that you find in much of the developing world is getting ripe for disruption as 5G-AR/VR-machine learning technologies converge. Researching this as I did for the American Cultural Association in Morocco, I can say it has tremendous potential for poor youth and adults to improve their lives. However, one significant downside is that consumerist subconscious messages will feed off the data from the students.

I like the idea of apps combining like the hotel and food delivery app. The future of podcasts does seem like it's only going to get better. The reason I think it'll get better is because I see podcasting as a vehicle for smart people to get a hour of air time to explain a difficult problem instead of the usual five to ten minutes they usually get on some TV show

@thenashbridges

@@thenashbridges my point exactly. one can make their own closed ecosystem portal with bookmarks and maintain ability to add an infinite number of others. i see superapp concept as just a consolidation play for incumbents

That is better than business model for companies rather than free app + immense surveillance and ads. I actually think it make it easier for me if I was watching a video of an orange and I felt I wanted to buy exactly that, to just click a button to buy.
