Het grappige is dat je om 4:01 uur het bord hebt met de snelheidslimieten in Vlaanderen en 300 meter later het bord met de snelheidslimiet in Wallonië. Volgens mij gaan we na de grens 300 meter door Fouron (Vlaanderen) en net daarna zijn we in Wallonië.

I love this video. It' just shows the scenic change between the never-ending Dutch flats and the first hills of the Ardennes mountains. So, although the core of the Ardennes mountains are in Wallonia and northern Luxembourg, I guess that the northernmost hills extend to the far south of Limburg at southeastern NL. I'm wondering if there is a little part of the Ardennes entering Germany near its border with the Dutch province of Limburg as well. Most geographical descriptions of the Ardennes don't include neither the far south of Limburg nor the nearest German border (near Aachen) into the whole Ardennes mountanious area. Please, Dutch, people, correct me if I'm wrong.

To be honest, Ardennes stops usually after the highs of Belgium, when we climb down northbound, it is no longer the Ardennes area. Ardennes is mostly the Belgian/French/Luxembourgish areas. Belgium/Netherlands/Germany parts are mostly called Euregio in local terms.

Back in 1968-1970 while in the military station in Brunssum, NL a NATO base I was in transportation driving 1965-1967 Chevrolets cars we use to drive on a three lane roads no four lane roads then and the middle lane was a passing zones in Belgium. Both ways going from Maastricht to Brussels. We called that suscide lane. We had to blink our lights in the middle lane to tell the others we are passing . We should of got combat pay.

I do use this road Daily on that particular part ( A2 Gronsveld - E40/E42 to Aachen ) by work. The road has been renovated mainly because some parts was in a very bad shape and actually caused damage to cars that i reached national medias in that time. My coworkers did actually filled complains due of broken tires, broken windows & bodywork hits. I'm glad you did not went there during workdays ( Trafic in Cheratte is very crowded most of the time & lately there is not 3 days without a trafic accident caused in this location )

I'm guessing if this motorway is the only direct crossing border between NL and Wallonia, as it seems that the rest of southern NL border is with the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. I'm just curious as I don't live in the Benelux countries.

@@j.i.delgado6968 This motorway does not connect NL with Wallonia... It is connected with Flanders for... 300m maxima. There is only one way of NL - Wallonia connection is via a small national route.

tot vorig jaar kwam je op de grens van mooi Nederlands asfalt op luidruchtig en vervallen beton in België. Het contrast kon haast niet groter zijn. Vanaf de grens wordt het landschap ook ineens heel anders.

Kan allemaal zijn, maar we mochten die brede snelwegen in België maar wat graag willen. We kunnen wel pochen met "wij hebben beter asfalt", maar onze (smalle) "snel"wegen (vergelijk het tot op de draad versleten gedeelte van de A2 (Kerensheide - Het Vonderen) maar eens of de A76 Kerensheide - Ten Eschen) zijn veel filegevoeliger dan die in België. Deze weggedeelten stammen overigens nog uit de jaren '60/'70 en er is in al die jaren niets aan gedaan. Daar verandert ook een hyperdure dubbele tunnel zonder vluchtstroken in Maastricht niets aan.

Weet jij misschien een dorpje ergens onder Liège waar een kasteel met vleermuisgrotten zijn? Was deze route circa 10 jaar geleden en maar 1x in mijn leven langsgekomen toen ik nog op school zat en was wel benieuwd hoe dat heette. Weet nog dat we vanaf de Mc Donalds naast het MVV stadion kwamen. En dat die grote tunnel nog volop in de bouw was.
