Here is an IFR approach using radio navigation (no GPS) in the A2A Simulations Comanche 250 aircraft. Scenery was ORBX Welshpool, ORBX Wales and ORBX England. I planned a more complex approach to the airfield but the controller just fit me in on the standard ILS approach, despite this I got a little flustered towards the end of approach and didn't monitor my descent to the threshold as well as I could, although, at that point the weather conditions were good enough to proceed visually.

Nice clear to understand video flying a great aircraft, my favorite plane. A little confusion with ATC people. I'll need to look at your other videos postings. Good work

Another good (and informative) video, Peter; thanks for posting and Merry Christmas to you from an Englishman 'suffering' in the 86F heat in Florida today. I used to live about 30 minutes from Liverpool airport although I never flew out of there, always Manchester. None of that silly stuff with mountains and FL120 in an unpressurised aircraft today either (sorry Eric, couldn't resist) LOL ;-)

Great video, DME hold is if you want to use that station for DME and then you can use the same radio to get another station for vor needle itself.

I got advice that in winter conditions is advised to have some carb heat on always...I do it like this now when I fly at -15 in norway (180) and it works fine.

+Tommy H yea Ive been finding the same with the Comanche in cold ops, I just keep it on about 15-25% most of the time when there is moisture in the air

Great Video but watch you RPM. At 37:50 the prop was raising hell lol. Keep the videos coming.

+T Caines yea, that happened at the worst time when I was concentrating on keeping on top of the aircraft, when the autopilot became more of a nuisance than an aid, then of course as you can see I was putting in a little too much input in the stick and the Comanche was bouncing all over the place, need to tone down the aileron controls a little :)

Great video Peter - I have just bought into a syndicate Piper Comanche 250 at Tatenhill. Enjoyed your video - How do you move around the cockpit views, especially the under yoke to view switches and outside front around the cowling when you look at Sleap (Apparently they like to pronounce that Slay-p!)

Sounds fun! I move around the cockpit with an addon peice of software called 'Chaseplane' the app runs in the background while you are flying and with the click of a button you can cycle through all your custom views you've set up, both internal and external. A much smoother system and peice of software than the default camera setup. Happy flying!

Did you say the Shawbury airspace is above 7000ft? I think Plan G said it was from the surface to 7000ft (SFC - 7000) did it not?

no problem, actually just before recording the video I went over in my mind if it was above or below 7000ft and based off Plan-G I thought it was above by how it was stated, but I should have double checked with another source, need to learn how to read plan-G properly!! :)

Hi love watching your videos, learning lots from them. However I am confused with the training airspace at shawberry which says surface to 7000ft. Isn't that the restricted zone therefore you should fly over 7000ft?? I am confused now!! Haha

+Russell Jones good question, see I interpreted that as 7000 and above is restricted, so felt I was ok flying under it, I am going to be doing research on airspaces soon so I will probably re-address these kinds of scenarios in later videos

+Russell Jones Yes you're right - it said "SFC - 7000" so the training area is from surface to 7000 feet. Above 7000 feet is unrestricted airspace.

+Peter Matthess It's a bit minefield for sure! ;) I'm just a simmer too and I've learnt plenty from your videos, Peter. Thank you for taking the time to make them. For airspace the best I've found so far is if you search KZbin for PilotEdge Worskshop 1. Long but learnt a lot from it.
