Thanks for the video. It reminds me the tip of a training support running between PanAm buildings in Miami and switching between 737 and A320 with an ex Air Jamaica captain as instructor ;)...

Hi! Is there any function on airbus like the VNAV mode on the Boeing?

Yes. it's called managed climb or managed descent. On the FMA those modes are CLB and DES. Those two modes are managed, also called VNAV path on other aircraft.

It has happen many times before and surprisingly the pilots did not know how to get out of the mode and ended up panicking or executing a go around

I am a Captain with a major European airline and in my 27 years of flying 12 of which were in the RAF I have done only 3 autopilot landings, all my landings are manually flown and that is what I expect my first officers to do also. Please guys hand fly the plane and get back some skills.

@@luisgustavoviolilatam4338 OK, let's do it your way and in a few short years we will no longer have pilots because computers will do the flying and pilots will no longer be required. If we continue down the route we are going we will not only lose our skill but we will confirm to the engineers at Airbus that they are indeed correct that the pilot is not needed. Do you really want that? So while I know the aircraft better than most I refuse to allow the computers to do something that a real pilot should be doing. I learnt to fly when I was 14 I flew the C130, in the RAF for 12 years all manually I fly manually now almost all of the time the exception is in cruise all other times, climb and decent I fly manually. Don't ever say that computers can do better than we can or that we have to use them we don't and we can do things they can't. They computer could never have landed on the Hudson, but fuck it go and try see if your precious computer can land on the hudson.

@@paulgarrett1622 I don't think you understand the modes of automation here. Every ils approach that is armed and flown on auto pilot on the A320 is a CAT 3 dual. It DOES NOT mean you must do an autoland. Only time I've seen auto land done was for currency for the skipper. Now since replaced by incorporation in the cyclic program. I'm a 6 year A320 FO

@@random2925 And i'm a 15 year A320 captain so what I know more about the Airbus than most but the point I am trying to make is that automation is not in itself the enemy but that pilots have forgotten how to fly. I do not use the automation, not because I do not like it or that I do not understand it but because I do not need it. The Airbus has auto trim which is a wonderful piece of technology that makes flying it manually a wonderful experience. I can do things with this aircraft that you would not believe or even imagine, all because of auto trim. I would encourage you to try it if your captain will allow it and if he does not, I will be willing to teach you.

My biggest approach mistake is not activating the approach in the FMGC. Forget to that and watch what happens. You wont be landing.

You have to call out "GS BLUE, LOC BLUE" . It isn't GS LOC BLUE..

You’re not gonna die if you’re saying G/S LOC Blue. What else would GS be? Green? White? Red? Would you call out Autopilot 1 WHITE? AutoThrust WHITE?

If you were teasing me that Way, then you Should take a look at FMA Callout (FCOM) Color coding Of FMA. divided by 2..What needs to be Called and Unnecessary to be Called. Definetely we all know about how to deal with Magenta, Blue & Green, White (FMA). Each callout GS BLUE LOC BLUE bcos, each is vertical and horizontal mode.(Can we MIX it?) Okay, The conclusion is, simply take a look at SOP normal FMA CALLOUTS.
