FXL Channel Agree, we all understand Boeing and Airbus have a big competition, it doesn't matter which one makes better aircrafts, technology etc, I like both Boeing and Airbus, all that matters is that they're making aircrafts for transportation for us to travel

Quite true like the pros of using a 747 is -nice on high demand routes like lax-jfk -good enough space for better premium products -heavy loved Cons -too big for some airports and airlines like AA -hard to fill seats

It is for safety reasons, so that if any problems are encountered they can quickly land. And as the first flight went pretty well, they were retracted after several minutes from take-off :)

What Airbus achieved is a plane with the same carrying capacity as the 777-200ER but with over 400 nautical miles more range and around 20% lower fuel burn. Good job, Airbus. :-)

I think no matter is it the European or the Americans . Both company came out with wonderful aircrafts. Boeing will be the 777s and and airbus would be the A380s.. all of them r wonderful aircrafts. i manage to get on one of emirates A380s . Am v impressed with the ride and cannot imagine the comfortness of the aircraft. 777-300ER is also an wonderful aircraft. beautiful and sleek looking well deserved to be known as The Flying Pencil. Well done Airbus, Boeing, GE & Rolls-Royce.

It's always been like that. The wheels are not the main priority as the plane's flying ability. Once they're high and flying has gone off to a great start, the wheels get its attention. Most planes don't retract their wheels until the second flight for safety reasons.

This being their first test flight, it makes sense that the landing gear was down for experimental purposes. :)

Usually on first flights, they don't raise the gear because if they do, there is always that chance that it won't lower again. A crash-landing because of a gear deployment failure would be terrible! But for this flight, they DID raise the gear, because what it all comes down to, is that Airbus has some big balls.
