I actually found out the solution on my own literally half an our before finding your video. If only I had been a little more patient, I could have played some more. ;) Thanks for the video. Until the firmware hopefully receives an update, adressing the issue, your workaround will instantly improve the A500 Mini for a lot of people!

When I change the .uae file to .txt I get the warning that it could become unusable, I then as add cpu speed line, save it, and covert it back to .uae, this is where I’m having an issue as my windows 11 doesn’t give me a fresh warning or change the file type back as it’s always a .txt even tho it’s states .uae. Any ideas why?

Could be compatible issues. I recommend just right clicking the file (.uae) open with WordPad, make the changes then save. It'll work without doing this workaround.

They mentioned last week that one was coming very soon, possibly this week.. it most certainly needs a few fixes. Especially surrounding whdload and enable to play adfs easily

That's great, thank you. One of the bigger issues for me is save slots not always loading. I did an hour of Monkey Island 2 and loading the save fails, same issue with It Came From The Desert.

We all know that the Mini loads games fast, likely UAE turbo setting, so my layman's theory is that the inability to load some save states is something to do with multi-disk games loading too fast (if that applies to .lha files).

Can I get any help for TV Sports Football? Game play is way too fast and can't save my league and play a season. All my changes to the teams do save on the team page but can't save the league to play exhibition and league play. I'm trying to follow your steps but everything I do doesn't look right. Speed still seems too fast but better. Space Harrier and Operation Wolf are great examples of games that run too fast.

You can hit F12 in game and access the Amiberry settings and change the speed, Amiga Model etc. On the new firmware update there are is an option in the settings to choose the Amiga Model.

What am I doing wrong? I save the file as .txt and make the adjustment, then I can't turn it back into a .uae file. It's stuck as a .txt file forever! 😵‍💫

Try adjusting without converting.. ie open in the usb file. Choose open with, choose notepad, make change, save, done.

You may have hidden file endings set in windows. Which means that the '.txt' ending gets hidden so you can't change it on the GUI.

Can't you make this a lot quicker by just associating .uae files with notepad so that you don't have to rename or copy anything?

I highly recommend the free notepad replacement for windows - notepad++ you can directly open the ol.uae file and edit it from the USB stick and notepad++ saves files in linux format so it doesn't put in the windows carriage returns which can cause problems with text files being read back under linux (like the A500 mini is running linux variant operating system).

Nice tips thanks. I was aware of this but it doesn't always come up as an option to open with notepad and rather than explain how to do that, thought better to avoid further confusion. Though those more PC literate should be able to figure this one out.

Notepad++ adds a context menu option that will open any file, in text mode, and gracefully handle binary files opened by accident. No need to mess with the open with dialog, which still doesn't detect basic compatible programs. Also, these instructions will not work with a default windows setup that does not show file extensions. You will end up making a .txt.uae file on a standard windows install.

Unfortunately doesn't work for me , when I change the file from UAE to txt it's fine but then when I change it back to uae it still reads as a notepad file and so not recognized in the a500 mini ,sorted it now .I find that editing it on the stick rather than copying to desktop,works for me . Hope this helps anyone with same issue.

Try changing the file whilst still on the memory card.. ie right click, choose open with, then Choose notepad. Then edit the file, save. Done.

Press a button on the mouse.. you need to access the keyboard to start the game too.

I'm more interested in finding out how to speed certain games up. Namely UFO and Frontier: Elite 2, instead of it being like a standard 68020 chip speed, get a 68030 or equivalent to add a touch more speed to smoothen the games up.

Probably just need to experiment a little. You can adjust the .uae file by adding cpu_type=68030 for example.

@@Tube2097 Dunno, you can access this to a point in the latest firmware but using ADF files only. Its an additional option if expert mode is activated. You can choose additional info in the settings of each game.

@@RoyBigBoy Yes it fixed the speed issue and with vroom. It's still runs a little faster than a stock A500 but it's playable.

Can you maybe test something for me.. add an additional line in the uae file cpu_type=68000, it might help further

@@CrazyBurger Brilliant! adding that extra line worked a treat... With that line added when the computer says "you are disembarked" the program was at the right command with me leaving the aircraft.. before i was already in the building picking up the car key and making my way to the vehicle when the computer said "you are disembarked" Will add that line to other games that i think are still just that tad too fast!
