Jay, please do it all your way. As a viewer I feel like I'm priviliged that you share your wonderful projects with us, so I don't have any expectations such as a weekly video out. I love your openess and honesty. Good you showed us how spacious the car actually is (me commenting also about 'huge' tunnel and limited space).

When I get to the seats you will get to see it better, but I fully understand the comments, because even though I fit, the tunnel is still huge and there is "limited" space. Ha!

@@BuilderCreator It reminds me of the massive tunnels of the 1990's supercars, like the Lamborghini Diablo, the Jaguar XJ220 or the Bugatti EB110. Even the Lotus Esprit V8 had a true wall between the seats. I remember reading back then in my country's car magazines as a child, and reviewers and journalists very often used the adjective "tight" when describing how sitting in one of these felt like. I think they just went away in the 2000's with the sequential gearboxes. These analog supercars had a charm of their own that seems lest nowadays, and I think that's why people (me included) in this channel are so exited about the Arete, the project gives that cool old school vibes.

In the late 80's I worked at Ferrari North America in cypress California. We would get tons of different exotic cars through there just by the trucks that would haul the cars around (mostly a company called horseless carriage did the trucking). They always had all sorts of exotics. I remember the Lamborghini Countach center tunnel was ridiculously fat, seems like maybe 18" or so (450mm). I also think I remember the gullwing merc having a fat tunnel but for sure its door sill is massive. Ferrari's of that time were pretty much normal in that respect

If he doesn't make a video one week, or one month, or one year, he still gave us some free entertainment in the videos he did put out. And he doesn't need to make excuses for any time he's not working on it. because he's a normal human who has a life.

I didn't miss the 'action' from the video, don't worry! I like to buld stuff altough I have opportunities rather around the house but I enjoy that as well. On the other side, I am a mechanical engineer, I finished my studies on Manufacturing tchnology faculty and my education focused more on metal works. I find it interesting to learn about different technologies and I get that from this channel. I started some resin casting because of this channel and only 2 weeks later a plastic part broke that I could replicate from this new technical knowledge. So the point is: Thank You!

If you run into a pinch like this, I’d love more details on the components you designed. These hinges, for instance, it would have been interesting to hear why you chose this design, who you figured out the lengths of the parallel bars to get the lift and separation you desired. Also, how will they get attached to the Frunk lid? Great stuff!

Actually now seeing you sat in there car it looks alright width wise, difficult to get the perspective from the normal shots. I took my son to the Haynes motor museum last weekend and there is a Jaguar Xj220 there, which is enormous, massive car in comparison to what we have on the roads in Britain but the cockpit was rediculously tiny, literally I would not fit. Its a common problem on older supercars I think. But anyway yours looks OK, good job😜
@BuilderCreator
@BuilderCreator 3 жыл бұрын
I have never seen the Jag Xj220, but that is funny, because the big tunnel of 80s cars was more accentuated because of the fact that the car was just so small to begin with. The best example is again from Britain-Lotus. Tiny with the whole structure running down the middle.

Eliminate the negative accentuate the positive. smile n nod politely to anything in-between... And just keep doing you mate... Sure we'd all like to see this thing up and running but really then it's all over and that's no fun so just do it in whatever way that makes U happy coz really that's the main thing here U need to be happy with what U sign off on and I would suck if U felt like U weren't able to do a cpl things simply because of people in the comments section...but hey look we're all sitting here with our arete esk cars that we built ourselves over a few Saturdays n Sunday Afternoons whilst knockin back a cold 6pk n a few hot dogs off the BBQ of course and we just want U to hurry up so U can come racing with us on the weekends... I . mean obviously rite... My dad told me if someone's giving you advice look at their shoes their belt and their watch the quality of the shoes belt and watch they're wearing is the quality of their advice.. I think U could take that alot of ways n depends on what they're trying to tell U I guess but yea unless Ur getting advice or comments from a guy with a nice belt good shoes and a solid watch who's also sitting in a shiney red car he built himself then just ignore them if it's negative ... Or just say brmmm brrmmmm brrrrmmmmm!! Hear that that's the sound of the car I built not bought.. good luck buddy!

Granted its not a door hinge so obviously, not a ton of repeated pivoting and thus rapid wear, but just out of curiosity, any reason you used regular screws for the pivots of the hinge rather than shoulder screws or binding barrels / screws so that the little bit of load and more so the articulation is not on the peaks of threads?

To be honest, this is why I didn't consider filming any part of my previous build, or other people's builds I've worked on, and why I'm not filming any part of my current one either. Getting cameras into place (plus however much time it took me to edit them into something coherent) would make everything take twice as long, and even *then* it's an algorithm lottery whether anyone would actually see it. And if they did, I'd have to deal with that weird sense of entitlement from people who watch your stuff for free, complaining about how you're not putting out exactly what they want you to put out on their schedule. Nah, not for me. I am very grateful for the people who *do* go to the effort to do that, though. Like you! Thank you
