I bought my wife the A73 and only got it for US$145 about 3 months ago. I saw this on sale in a mobile phone shop where I am and after seeing the price, and knowing how good the phone is, it was a no brainer. All she cared about was a great looking screen and a camera she was fine with. The camera is actually pretty good even with the selfie cam. My wife loves the camera after coming from a lower end phone previously. All she cares about are her selfies and taking videos in 4k and this phone can do those perfectly fine.

I'll keep the A72 at least until I get security patches (I'll be stuck with android 14 tho) it is a good phone even tho it is lagging a bit nowadays. And it always had a problem with stuttering video recording (not my unit, I've changed 5 of them and they all worked the same). I'll see then what to get...

I think the same happened to the A80 and A90. Both phones were solid alternatives to the S series while being way cheaper. The plastic back doesnt rlly bother me, as it's covered up in stickers or a phone case anyway. I also use this phone for heavy gaming and the experience on it is amazing because of how big the screen is. The battery also lasts me throughout a long day in school, with my mobile data on the entire time (i'm in my campus from 6.30am to 7.30 pm, toxic i know). My program and courses require me to be in a laborstory setting, and the camera quality is better than the latest iphones in my opinion (that's because the auto focus on the latest iphones get confused due to the intense magnification of a microscope whenever I try to take pictures of samples). Overall, I love this phone. It really just depends on what type of user you are. Best investment for me and I can see myself still using it for 2 to 3 more yrs.

I don't get the structure of the Samsung A series. They started out being affordable yet kinda premium then went cheaper with less and now they're sorta in between. Well built phones with questionable specs and yearly downgrades in many ways. To be fair, Motorola and OnePlus are doing the same thing and all these OEMs need to figure out what they're doing and stick with it. The processor alone in this A73 trumps anything from the lower A series up to and including the A55. Samsung needs to focus less on quantity with the A series and devote more effort into quality.

@@TechDaily I agree with you and I think Samsung needs to do even more consolidation for the A series. There's far too many phones in that lineup. And unless Samsung makes major strides with their Exynos in efficiency, they need to stop using them. They could just as easily get Snapdragon to specifically make a chipset for their A series of devices like they do with upper end S series phones. That would straighten out the lineup and streamline it overall.
@DWtechfanАй бұрын
@@mikaela43523 first off, calm down. It's a phone discussion, not life or death 🤣. I never said the 778 G chipset was perfect, it has overheating and mediocre to bad battery life. And I'll give Samsung credit, the newer Exynos chipsets like the 1380 and 1480 are more efficient and on many levels are better than the 778 G in the A73. But I was specifically referring to general and overall performance and that's where the A73 might win even though the A55 has higher benchmark scores. I've said it on Wade's videos and elsewhere on KZbin but scores don't mean anything in real world use. But Snapdragon generally makes better and more stable chipsets than Exynos and most knowledgeable tech people know this is true. Question for a52 owners does your a52 lag and have animation slowdowns like the a53? I know the a52 has a snapdragon chip and a53 is exynos
@TechDailyАй бұрын
Interesting question 👀 I suggested this in the video actually - that people were avoiding the A53 - A55 because of Exynos chips

i have a51 and if you have problems with animation you can unlock developer options and set {animator duration scale}, {transition animation scale }, {window animation scale} set them to of or reduce duration.

The Samsung A73 I would use in conjunction with the Samsung A24. I would use the Samsung A73 with 256 GB and put a 500 SD Card or a 1 TB SD Card and use it as a photography editing tool alongside my Tablet and Laptop. Especially for my on the go Street Photography. Does this Samsung A73 have a headphone jack

I was thinking about to buy A74 1 year ago but 5 months ago in 2024 i ended up buying used samsung A73 because of discontinued A73 manufacturing and market sale . And this is my first samsung phone. I love the phone and specs like 120 hz display super amoled,108 main camera with 4 camers last but not the least snapdragon processor 6Gen. still look like a modern phone with slim sleek phone with a big display I would love to buy A74 samsung should launch the A74 for midrange samsung fan users. Imagine if samsung launched A74 or A56 with snapdragon processor 8gen.

The -500 mAh on the S23 FE is one of the main reasons I havent upgraded from my S20 FE because the main reason I even wanted to upgrade was the battery degradation but upgrading to a new battery of the same capacity just felt wrong. Also Exynos has served me just fine on this and my previous A50. I never quite got all the hate. Before that I had a Snapdragon S7 but Ive used my phone alot more now with the Exynos than when I had the Snapdragon.

I'm still rocking an A71 and it genuinely does feel like the best S-lite phone without the S price. I usually sell on my old phones but not this one, it'll either die completely and I'll replace it, or upgrade and keep it as a backup. I'm way too emotionally connected with it now lol Unfortunately the A73, or A5x series in 2024, don't meet my needs anymore.

Been using a72 for 2 years now. Yes it struggles a lot sometimes, like interesting bugs and sudden fps drops or stucking. But i love using this phone. I still use new ui. I still have a headphone jack. 90hz display, big screen.64 megapixels camera. I will probably jump to a s22 ultra or s23 ultra bc of the s pen. But if there were a a7x to jump to i would instead get that since it saves a lot of money.

You didnt talk about the antutu score, my mint A73 crossed 596,000 on antutu 10 and 1100/2911 on geekbench 6. For a mid range phone, that's nuts! Ive had the phone since June 2023, and the only thing bad about it was the battery health, which is, as of now, 86%, and that's probably my fault since i game and use camera (night sky photos and timelapses) alot. Best midrange phone i have owned (previously i had an A72) :p

I have the s20 fe 5g, it is still a beast of a phone, looks good, gorgeous screen, sd card support, 5g, what else do you want? I have put custom rom on it, yes, knox is tripped but where i live, there is no samsung pay, so we don't need that feature anyway. As long as there is community support, i will always have a rom available to upgrade to. I switched to iPhone in the touchwiz days, i left samsung because of it, but didn't know what i know now, oneui is actually pretty awesome, so i wanted a rom that resembles it close, not knowing some devs have ported the s23 rom to the s20 fe 5g, so i have all the samsung features that came with the phone available, even volte works. The s20 fe 5g is really cheap now, and if samsung pay isn't something you use, well, go ahead and install UN1CA on it, it's such a cool rom. I love my s20 fe 5g, i got it for free, i own an iPhone 14 pro, i don't use it anymore, i switched over to the s20!

The S20 FE was the best phone Samsung ever released. Full stop.
@pp3k3jamailАй бұрын
@@TechDailyI don't know that's an interesting take, I will probably say the best phone Samsung ever made was the note 9. That was their last big flagship that had every feature. Even though the Note 10 plus and the note 20 ultra 5G and S20 ultra were great phones! that's when Samsung started taking features away. Those phones didn't have a headphone jack. But you can definitely make a case for the best phone Samsung has ever made to be between S20 FE, Note 9, S10 plus.

A73 owner here. One thing I feel that's worth noting is that the screen of the A73 can't dial down it's refresh rate to 60 Hz when you're not doing anything to save battery. It's always running at 120Hz. Aside from that minor gripe, I still don't feel pressured to upgrade. The phone still feels usable.

My Xcover6 Pro uses the 778G processor and can be throttled down from 120 hz to 60 hz in 'power saving mode'.

@NoremacOktik Whoops, I should have clarified. I meant that the A73 doesn't dial down the refresh rate to 60 Hz when you're not doing anything. It also dials down to 60 Hz when you turn on power saving.

I feel like the 70 series isn’t necessary anymore. It made more of an impact back when displays were getting even bigger but now there’s so many budget and midrange phones with the max screen size that I feel like it isn’t necessary. Sorta like how the Moto G power used to have a unique battery size and now most big phones have 5000mah. That’s not to say I didn’t like the A70 phones though,I was disappointed to see them go.

In my experience, the lower price comes with a trade-off. A lot of A-series phones tend to slow down over time, and I've even seen them suffer from ROM failures, wiping out data. While I don’t hate Exynos, after using Snapdragon, I’m not eager to switch back-especially with the heating issues still lingering on the newer S24 and S24+. Just my two cents, though! YMMV.
@summerwintermelonАй бұрын
Sold my S23 FE because of the battery and thermals. It heats up a lot. It doesn't fit my country's weather unless you're always in an airconditioned room. My A70 lasted a lot longer than S23 FE battery-wise. Thinner bezels as well. I wanted to get this after I sold my S23 FE but since my country's weather is really humid, it would heat up and there's a high probabability that the green line will appear. They're quite common. So I got the S20 FE and I've been happier since.

I think they should leave the A50 series alone. It will create a significant gap between that and the FE series - tempting A5x users to try the FE. Great video by the way!

I'm still using my old a70 and suprisingly much more faster and durable than those Chinese mobile devices. Easier to fix too, the only thing that stop me from upgrading to either 71, 72 or 73 is after a70 released it became overprice that it was much more sense to buy FE series which is almost in the same price range.

I still have my Galaxy A70 and it's still useful enough. As an upgrade, I would be fine with an A series phone that has the beautiful squared-off large screen of the S24Ultra, but I know that won't be something coming anytime soon as a reality, so I will eventually have to upgrade all the way up to the Ultra series, since I love larger screens.

The two best options for those who still own an A73 - 1. Continue to use and max out until A16, it's still a great device in 2024, and the 108 MP quad camera system still gets the job done, that is if you can get past the plastic build 2. Take advantage of the Samsung Trade-In policy and pick up an S24FE or any of the flagship S24 series

Looking now at an S series, Pixel or Foldable. Biggest annoyance of my A is the fingerprint sensor as it is slow and not accurate. The camera is ok but wish it were better. My A72 was good enough but maybe time just to return flagship but tending to Pixel?

I mean I still have my Huawei P smart 2018 model phone. If I can replace the battery I would still use it. But since Cape Town is 1h-1h 30m drive away to get to the closest huawei center, I just got myself the Samsung Galaxy A15 4G. It has everything I need and more. I can manage with the software my own background tasks that runs or turn background tasks off. The Huawei P smart 2018 has a metal back and sides. Still 3GB of ram and 32/64GB of storage. It has a FHD+ display and can toggle it to HD+ if I wanted to. You can watch videos, play clash of clans or slime legends pretty well. Its the last generation of Huawei phones that still has the google play store on it. So I will fix the battery next year and use it as a second phone. Also both my phones have NFC payments and fingerprint readers.

I'm still using an A70 and A71 both great phones today, still. I thought ythe A72 and A73 didn't bring enough value to warrant the upgrade and increased pricing. For me the long awaited value that never came was wireless charging support and repairabilty. 2 huge missed features worth upgrading for. As for software I missed camera sofyware updates to trickle down for the higher tier phones to the A7* series phones over time. I thonk the A7* series phones are the sweet spot to invest in. Anything feom A70 to current A73 is better than the other midrange Samsung phones. I agree that people will likely invest in higher end S series phones from the A7* series when the S series become more affordable second hand. Likely these phones will also be more mature as fist movers will have helped iron out the bugs and issues on first release of flagship phones.

I got a 2021 A72 and every AXX and even all the S24s except the Ultra got worse cameras/less sensors on the back? No 0.5 wide angle (0.6) and no 3x zoom (2x) - and the Ultra is triple the price and got no headphone jack anymore lmao. Looking at Sony, but they got no real midrange, and after switching to Samsung again after years (my last one before was the Note 3), I got used to Good Lock features and OHO+. Really unsure what I'd do - limiting the battery to 85% (changed to 80% after the OneUI 6.1 update) saved the battery really well, and its going through a day nicely, even with all the nerdy net/temp monitoring stuff I'm running constantly. So I just got a new case and replaced the screen with a new original Samsung OLED (this time replacing the floppy S View cover with a sturdy Spigen and 2nd display glass, so that it survives hopefully infinite drops now)
