Adam Top stuff - 200 AAA on fixed - we are not worthy! Loving the vid with some of my local hills.... pity about the lack of a pile, though. Did a DIY 200 in the wind myself yesterday - #6 of my own RRtY. Unfortunately I wasn't able to outwit God like you, so the south westerly section across the top of the Mendips from Nunney to Wells was brutal. Keep up the good work.

Good job good job, did my 200 yesterday too - similar weather conditions - in fact I was impressed with how good it turned out. Didn't have to ride in the dark either, loving the days getting long day by day.

Did the same as me, surfing a nice tailwind home 👍

Nice ride, I've always found it's a nasty kick up near the top of Old Bristol Road. Kudos for doing it on a fixie!!

Nice one, I’m doing my own charity ride in June from Chipping Norton to Ypres in Belgium in one go, never done over 100 miles before, should be fun though.

Sounds a big one, enjoy the training. Saddle comfort will be vital!

Got to be honest - I find Garmin 520/820 awesome navigation tools. Both on offer as 530/830 have been out a while now. 820 is touch screen and simpler to use, even with gloves.

Hey man, have you always ridden bikes? Im wondering how long it took you to be able to smash out 200km rides. Im 28 ive been riding for about a year and ive done a few 100km rides but I cant see myself going further than that without it being some sort of hellish experience. My body and arse just feel like pure shit. What concerns me more is how long it takes me to recover. I never seen to have any energy. Ive been vegan for a year as well and i worry Im not getting what i need. But then i see you banging in jam, white bread and packs of biscuits lol also doing 300km and barely drinking a bottle... I need like 2 litres of water to do a 100km. Its frustrating because I want to do audax rides but it feels like an impossible goal rn
@adamwatkins4 жыл бұрын
hello PS ! sounds like you've reached some kind of endurance wall and now it needs climbing ... seems there are two issues, first the riding, and second the vegan bit. Personally I don't stress too much about getting all required nutrients from my every day diet, but just a bit of common sense tells me to get some greens in a couple of times a week, plenty of porridge oats, and B12 in milk substitutes - this all works for me. Some people are sensitive to low B12 and that will defo cause lack of energy. I went from 100km rides to 200 quite quickly but my problem was riding too fast, trying to maintain 25kph was silly, I should have been thinking 20-22kph - how fast are you trying to ride? Going slower will mean you dont need to eat or drink as much. I started riding properly i.e. every weekend in about jan 2012 and april 2013 was my first 200km audax. Hope this helps a little

@@adamwatkins thanks for the considered response man I really appreciate it! I have b12 supplements and eat better than most I guess. I slow right down and pace myself for longer rides and I think Im good with the eating on the rides. I just need to stfu and ride more. I bought a fixed gear the other day and so far I absolutely hate it haha I just need to knuckle down and put more hours in more consistently. Cheers

Would love to see a video on how you went from doing a "10 mile commute on a ladies hybrid" to doing PBP... or even a 200k ride! I seem to have a 'limit' of about 80k (50 miles) but not really sure what is limiting me!

There are no limits 😅

@@cleggycyclist ah that must be it, cheers for that 😂. It's more an "Ok, everything aches now, I want to go home" limit!
@jalford50894 жыл бұрын
The limit is knowing what is possible. Have a rest, then push the extra 20 to do a 100k. Next time you know 100k is possible. The fun is in re defining what is possible. Look at comfort on the bike, nutrition and pacing- all things that help you keep going. In the end there’s nothing better than coming home and saying ‘ I said I was going to do that, and I did it!’.
